But not any more....

Monday morning on the way to work a toyota hilux crossed my way. The guy told the police that he had not seen me coming so he made a left turn and crossed my line. I had no chance to stop so I hit him

I am sorry haffi.
That sucks so bad.
What is going to happen now?
I doubt they will fix it.
Are going to be paid out?
By it back?

Who is getting the blame?

Also, I will not ask for any pics prior to the accident.

Cheers,
Nick

That must have been a fabulous snow machine, it looks like Sweedish number plates. Is the 12HT going to make it?

Deepest condolances,

Scoot

Hafi .. dude .. so sorry to see it. I'm so happy to know you are fine .. is the most iportant thing.

I was involved in an accident last year .. still in legal fight .. bad news in my case, anybody here gonna recognize my TLC as a special rig with a lots of mods .. I'm hope you didin't have the same experience ..

off course less damage than you ..

I'm not gonna ask about the other car ..

O well,

The police report is not in at the insurance company. They say it will be there tomorrow or the nex day. Untill then they say noting.

The police told me not to worry, the other guy is getting the blame so his insurance company (the same as mine) will have to pay it out.

The damage is beond repair. The frame is all twisted and turned, the body also. I have no idea if the engine is ok, the radiator is pressed all the way to the fans so there is no way to turn it without removing something first.

I havent had the chance to have a good look at it , it is located in the tow-trucks garage and it will stay there untill the insurance compay picks it up to look at the damage and value its price.

The street value for a cruiser like that here in icelandis about 900.000-1.000.000 iskr. wich is about 14.000 usd.

Hopefully they will pay and smile but I doubt it.....

I´m going to make a list of all the mods and restoratoins an the prises and bring with me to the ins. I have also asked some used car dealers to value it for me before the crash.

My demands will me 900.000 kr and to keep the wreck.

I already have a buyer for the 12-ht engine if its ok.

I havent made up my mind about buing another cruiser, they are not that hard to find here. I know about one 89-62 with 35" tires, 12-ht intercooled engine with 2xx.xxx km. but no cable lockers. It would be a great buy.

One pic in the end of my X on a nice day few weeks ago.

That sucks haffi.

After seeing your photo, I had read about your build on your cruiser.
Sucks that you had an accident with such a nicely modded truck.
Here is hoping the insurance company pays up.

Cheers,
Nick

Sorry to hear that bro, I hope everything works out for you the best of luck.

I hate to see a dead cruiser, but just amagine if you were in a plastic car you might be hurt or worse.

cheers

Hafi .. sorry dude .. I fell you'r sad over here.

There is no one insurance Co that make a right value for our rigs .. all consideration will be based on standard ( old and maybe rusted ) cruiser .. I'm right now ( one yar after ) in the process to certify all mods with a " expert " to put a real value for all mods and parts damaged ..

it's hard .. luck to you it's the same Co .. your fight is more simple, not determinate who is guilty, only how much you gonna recive for your ex Cruiser ..

the fight is on

Well, finally the police finished the report and sent it to the insurance company.

The other guy is blamed 100% for the crash. So my fight starts today. Hopefully they will pay it out sometimes next week. The insurance company will get the wreck monday morning to value it and hopefully they will make me a offer on tuesday.

I did my homework as good as i could, wrote a report about all the mods and repairs. Printed ads for similar cars from the internet, got a list of all parts bought from the Toyota dealer for that car since 1994 and made them a offer i hope they will agree on.

If all goes as planned I will be driving this car sometimes next week. http://bilasolur.is/Main.asp?SHOW=CARIMAGE&BILASALA=2&BILAR_ID=104472&IMAGEID=25275

No, no mistake

I am really thinking about diesel 4runner. Before I bought the cruiser I had a V6 petrol 4runner. A great car.

A cruiser similar to mine will not be easy to find for sale. So if I want another one I will have to build it from a stock 62 like I did with mine.

I really dont have the time, money or a place to do that all over again.

So If the insurance company will treat me well I will be able to buy that 4runner, fix some minor body damages, and buy the stuff I need to fit 38" tires.

I really belive this is the best option an the chepest for me to get a diesel 38" toyota.

I bought a apartment last summer so I dont have as much money as I used to to spend on my car.

ya but the power is going to be sucking in comparison...........38 meats on a 2l-t or 3L..... won't be as powerfull as your 12h-t. if that is what you had.

The search goes on. To day I test drove this car.

Damn... What a sweet ride. I totally fell in love.

It´s a 1990 with 35" tires, turbo diesel and intercooler automatic transmission. No lockers.

It looks ok. Minor rust below the glass in the tailgate and rear passanger door. Nice interior, smells a little like a horse inside but is clean.

It has 394.XXX. km. The dealer has no idea about if the engine or atm has been rebuilt. It runs perfectly and it chances gears smoothly. He is going to contact the owner and ask some questions for me and get back to me on monday.

Do you think I should be worried?
My cruiser had 45X.XXX. km or more with no problems.

I feel that is alot of km's for any truck, but depending on how it has been maintained it could still be a very nice truck. I would test the compression at least.

cheers
Eric

I´m thinking: My truck with 45x.xxx. The 80 with 394.xxx, but a much nicer in all ways. Better suspension, more power, looks better much more comfort and two years younger. I belive it will me in my price range so what have i got lose?

How the heck do you manage to get 15 - 20 year old vehicles with 450 000 kms on them? Canada is fairly big and everything is pretty far apart, but it's not like Iceland is exactly a big country.

Haffi .. dude .. this HDJ-80 your best bet .. trustme.

I thought this engine has already a rebuild .. quality we don't know .. but to run hard 1HD-T with more than 300k km .. need a rebuild ..

The most important thing here is the H442 . ? or you have H440 .: ? dod your check the oil in axles, tranny engine . ? status . ?

and for sure .. you must need to take pics from intercooler setup .. :D
