Finished the install and went for a test drive. The pads were a tight fit but did go in. How much clearance should there be between pad and rotor. I am worried that my pads are rubbing. I can not tell though. It did not seem as if the brakes were slowing it down. I listened to the front end with windows down and could not tell if there was noise coming from the brakes or if it was just wind noise. My fluid level is a little above the max line. Should I remove fluid since I only took the cap off during the install. I drove for about 20-25 min and the brakes seemed pretty hot. Is it possible that I messed up this simple task or am I just being paranoid.

paranoia sets in...;)

The first time I changed the pads on the wife's 450 (I had changed the pads on mine twice before then) she asked, "how do you know you did it right?" I said, "I drove around, hit the brakes, the truck stopped. Good enough for me."

Pads are pretty easy. If there is any contact, it'll rub off pretty quickly. Don't sweat it...unless you ended up with a bunch of extra parts

LMAO Doug! That's exactly how I felt as a 1/2  mechanic after I changed my front pads for the first time. hehehe I didn't, however, have the same feeling with the rear pads the first time.

Good to know that others in here have become paranoid after the first time doing this on their Cruiser.....My girlfriend said something similiar to Doug's wife which got me thinking I suppose....Oh well it stops so thats good.

I did follow the FSM, step by step...
I don't want people to get the idea that I just fly by the seat of my pants ;p
