I am looking for an onboard compressor for airing up tires, etc.

Knowing that I will be getting the ARB lockers when they come out should I consider the ARB Compressor?

Does the lockers require the ARB compressor or can anyone be used?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

No. Well, kind of yes. The compressor needs to output a PSI within the range of the ARB locker o-ring/solenoid system. IF you get a very high output compressor you can use a valve between it and the ARB lines to lessen the PSI into the working range.

Any recommendations for onboard compressors otherwise then ARB? Is the ARB one capable for airing up the tires without a struggle etc?
Maybe some tools if I needed them to?

Not from me. I haven't fiddled with the things. I have the deluxe ARB compressor in the truck and a POC $50 tire filler.

From what I've read, the ARB compressor will run lockers (obviously) and it will inflate tires but not very quickly. The 80-series forum (and probably the other ones too) have lots of info about compressors vs CO2 vs engine driven compressors. Try searching for "on board air" or "OBA".

i have been trying to find a good also i seen the warn power winch and air combo and was not impressed; its small and takes a long time to inflate; i am currently on the fench with the puma product or the vlair one severl people have both and recomend either one. there is a whole write up on the vlair in the fj section

The lockers don't require much volume, so just any of the compressors will deliver enough. The "problem" is they need to have a more constant delivery, so tanked type compressor. The Puma is a great pump, would have no problem running the lockers, it does a good job pumping up my 37" tires and runs a 3/8" impact, hard to beat for the $$$.

hey thanks for the linc was it hard to separate the unit also how did you mount the tank? I'm in the northeast usa so we have lots of corosion issues and problems with the attachments??

Check it...

That's one slick install. This is on a diesel, so I haven't compared our gas guzzlers to see if we have an open space in that area of the engine.

That is a nice looking install.

I am still trying to find a place for a second battery.

Put your second battery in the front of the engine compartment, passenger side. Just move that little generator looking thing to the side, there is plenty of room.
