My lease is up in 4 months. I'm looking for a garage. Like literally, I'd live in a garage if i could...
But my boss is OK with me living anywhere as long as I'm readily drive-able to clients. I piddled in Cullman today on the way home from Huntsville. Seems like a very nice place! Everyone I know from there loves it. Even the McDonald's workers were pleasant! And there's a Shogun for sushi...
What say mud? Elbert, you live there...
I'd be servicing bham and Huntsville, so it's pretty central... and puts me closer to the events I go to...

I'm paying $700/mo in my basement apt....
Cullman so far as I've found has apts for $400 for a 2br!

But I'd prolly try to get a house or at least a garage.

Yeah I live In Cullman. I've lived here off an on since around 79, different jobs took me away from the area for some time. Anyway decent jobs are hard to find, but if you have a decent job then that's not a concern. As far a living here. There are not that many apartment complexes around but I think you could certainly find something reasonable for less than you are paying now. I don't know about the house rental market.

Hardly any crime issues, we are about in the middle between Huntsville/Birmingham, good people here, not so much of the rat race mentality. We have about every flavor of fast food there is, other options are getting here..but slow.

I moved to Cullman a few months ago. It's been great....much better than the iron dale area. Stores are cleaner, very few traffic lights, very easy to get stuff done and now I can list my junk for sale on both Huntsville and b'ham craigslist.

I think my first opportunity, I'ma come and ride around more and scope it out. Cause I will definitely want to rent before I buy in an area I've spent little time in. But I LOVED what I saw... and in reality, it's less about the actual city and more the location to get out and to the offroad parks within the region. I'm single and plan on staying that way, so maybe even finding an old shop to live in?

I have dreamed of finding an old abandoned shop for sale on the cheap for years...

there is one I pass on my way to double springs, 2 tall bay doors, office to the side, either very very tall inside or a loft/office above the garage.

My father in law has been talking about building a steel building with 4 bays and the second story being basically a 1200 sq ft living space. I think that'd be pretty friggin sweet.
