I am getting close to painting my FJ40 in Freeborn Red. I really want to use PPG Deltron 2000 but at $100/qt (or $350/gal) plus clearcoat it is quite expensive compared to OMNI which is $100 per gallon plus clearcoat. I know the Deltron gets much better coverage. Has someone used both paints to give me an idea of which to choose? Also, how many quarts of the Deltron would it take to paint the outside and inside of the FJ40?

I used omni a fair amount, never had a problem. You're gonna need a gallon to do inside and out, minimum. Outside only, depending on your skill and number of coats, maybe 3 quarts. Less with an hvlp. Personally, I doubt the deltron is worth the difference, especially if you park it inside, or just occasionally wax it.

I painted my 40 with Omni Freeborn Red and I used about a gal and a half to paint inside and out and bottom. Omni worked great. I used single stage and it was @ $60 a gal (a year ago). I'd get a gal because I think 3 quarts is about the same price and you don't have to worry about the 3 cans of color matching.
