New u-bolt right? not a prior bent one? And you are tighting them evenly? something sounds off >Is the rear centered maybe to cause something to bind?

I know your real time that is why I am trying to rack my brain.

new ome u-bolts, but i have to used one of the old stock ones asince i bent one
everything looks centered/even on each side...
i am doing each a bit at a time to be even

You torquing them with springs loaded with the weight of cruiser?

sure your not looking at newton-meter? I think the equivalent would be like a 120 ft-pounds if you had it set on 90 newton meter instead of 90 foot pounds.

I could be full of poop though too. :)

or I am backwards. :)

i had 90 lb/ft
ok, everything is done, i set torque at 60, and then went to move up 90, 13 cranks and the plate craked again, i will verify for the next few days/then weeks regulary to make sure everything is tight. i will get some new ubolt plates, i really like the 4+ ubolt flip[kit] one from maf, but its expensive
i just installed ome heavy in the rear, ill do the front sunday, or next weekend... i got some 4inches out of the springs, but they need to settle, the passenger side swsits 1/2 inch higher the the drivers side

thabks for the promp replies. i will post a write-up with pics ones i am done

take a pic. I have cranked the living heck out of U bolt plates (stripped new bolts even) without killing a plate.

These stock? I am thinking that the welds are not great. And it was cracked to begin with.

A pic is worth a thousand words..

Spring under correct?

Mace is right about a picture helping.

Maybe something is not right and causing the plate to bend. Did you use some spacers around the top of the centering pin? Did you make sure they aren't hitting the axle housing limiting the spring from touching or getting tight against the spring perch on the axle?
