I am thinking about replacing the old Old Man Emu nitrocharger shocks, that I got when I swapped my stock suspension for the OME heavy 3 1/2" from a FJ62, with the new OME NitroCharger Sport Shocks. Have any of you put these shocks on your Cruisers, how do you like the performance? Your comments and reviews please. Thank You
Mate, I've just fitted a set to my 85 model HJ60 as so far they seem to be quite good. I really don't have a great comparison as the old shocks had the oil running out of the cylinder when I picked the vehicle up - totally knackered!!
I put the new ones in as part of an OME upgrade and went with the Sports as a compromise instead of running a Heavy/Heavy spring combination (I'm running a Heavy/Medium combo instead with NitroCharger Sports all round)
The ride has been massively improved and it steers heaps better - even my wife drove it about 4000km last month and said that it didn't miss a beat.
The only thing I will say is that on my model, the rear shock pins were too small for the bushes that came for the shocks. I'm not sure if smaller ID bushes are available, but I just cut some 30mm lengths of hydraulic hard line and sleeved the pins and then the bushes fitted perfectly.
Not sur eon the ome but when i priced for my upgrade. I found that i could get bilstien 5150' s for less money. They are a nitrogen charge with a piggy back set up and i like them alot. I had to do miner fabing for install.
