Hey guys,

I just finished up the install of my OME lift on my 100. Currently the rig is measuring at 36" from the ground through the center of the hub to the lower edge of the fender. My ride height is just about 12" on every wheel. (The 05's came with 18" "dubs" so that left me getting 1/2 - 1 " lower measurements than everyone else from the top of the wheel)

I know the front is adjustable depending on where I index my T bars at. I just don't want to go higher in the front if my rear is going to sit lower. I guess my questions are:

1. Whats your height from the ground through the hub to the fenders? I'm at 36" on all four.

2. Is there any other way to increase my rear height so I can crank up my front? (Spacers?) I have the 865's installed.

3. Those of you running 13" wide tires on factory wheels, what backspacing do they have? I know Slee has the 13's but is using spacers.

Christo did you have to because of rubbing the control arm?

Thanks for any help in advance,

Doug M.

I found a few measurements from Shotts and Christo on another thread.

Slee: Front - 39.25" floor to fender - 22 center of wheel to fender
Rear - 40.5" floor to fender - 23.5 center of wheel to fender

Shotts: Front: 38" / 21.5"
Rear: 39.25 / 22.75"

Why would I be sitting so much lower, especially in the rear? :wtf:

Doug

BTW: Thanks for the write up Juke, it helped out a ton.

What size tires are you running? Slee and Shotts had 35's, which would bump his up an inch over 33's.

Slee also had the LX470, lifted with a combination of stiffer tortion bars and hydro suspension.

Sorry, I am still sitting on stock rubber. I know that'll account for most of the height, but my ride height is at 12" (wheel to fender) compared to Jukes 13.5. Unless Juke has something different since his rear spring install.

If my math is right, I would gain an increase in height of 2" because the 275/60/18's are 31 inches tall vs the 35's.

That would bring my rear height up to 38" fully inflated compared to Shotts' 39.25. Maybe he's using 80 series springs.

Am I just missing the obvious or what?

Thanks again.

Doug M.

You said you were running 18's. I am running 16's. My measurements were taken from Top of Rim to bottom of fender. You have roughly 2 inches on me in terms of wheel height. Tires are a moot point. So, that actually tells me your are OVER what you should be in terms of lift.

The BEST way in my opinion is to NOT worry about lift and WORRY about droop. You need to have at least 2.5-3 inches of downward travel. If you do not, you are really operating a vehicle that is dangerous if you were to be placed in an emergency swerve.

Make sense?

dang it, measure from the center of the wheel to the fender so you eliminate the tire effect!
(and it's the tire size that matters, not the wheel, if you measure from the ground...)

I am at 21.5" from the center of the wheel to the fender.

I will check my droop this evening when I get a chance.

Ultra"

You are right then i.e. center of wheel to top of rim should be 9". 21.5"-9" = 12.5" from top of wheel to bottom of fender. I am at 13.5" from top of wheel to bottom of fender. That would mean that I am 13.5" + 8" from center of wheel which equals 21.5" as well. You are dead on if I am thinking right.

You are correct, Shotts is using 863's in the rear, which are an inch taller than your 865's. Combine that with the 2" difference in tires and you're within a 1/4 of an inch of Shotts' measurements.

Thanks for clearing things up for me. IH8MUD rocks!!

I am sane after all.

Doug M.

FYI: I am mounting Nitto TG 325/60/18's (32.99x 12.84) on my factory wheels if I can clear the control arms. Thanks again.

I rechecked mine cuz I didn't remember when the measurement was taken on that post. Yes, I'm 39.25 since I went to 863's and that's WITH the Slee bumper on the back.

I am at the absolute max IMO on front lift. Any more lift and the down travel amount would not be acceptable. To stop the rubbing you simply adjust your turn-stops (cake). Your turning diameter is effected VERY little (can't even tell).

A NEW 100 LIFTED? WAY TO GO DUDE! Another crazy person like myself exists (no offense :D ).

Schotts, are you running spacers with your factory wheels? I'm a little hesitant to have my tires mounted on my factory wheels only to find out I'll be rubbing the control arm.

Also, does anyone know the offset or backspace of pre-05 factory wheels, say 98-04?

My wheels seem to be tucked underneath quite a bit. Thats whats got me concerned.

As always, thanks,

Doug M.

No spacers, no problems. Only at FULL FULL turn do you rub. A simple adjustment of the turn-stops and all is well. 90K plus and no issues. Effects the turn radius extremely little. Can't even tell. Luv the 35's!

33's were no adjustment anywhere, type of size.

Doug, your factory wheels might be to narrow for that tire. The tread will bow. Just thought you should know. It should be mounted on a 9.5" wheel. Typically it is not a big issue, however on the 18" with a 60" sidewall there is not that much to bow in and allow running it on a narrower rim.

Don't know about Slee's 18-inch size. I'd listen to him. For a LC with 315's though, no problem.

Thanks guys, I have been searching for an 18 inch wheel that wider and looks decent, but so far I've come up empty handed.

I guess I'll keep poking around and maybe I'll come up with something pretty soon.

Other than looks, do ya think you might be better off with 16's? I'd think when aired down they have a larger patch due to more sidewall?

If I'm not mistaken, I think Toyota went with larger brakes on the 05 which was previously only offered as an option. I think I'm stuck with the 18's. Maybe I could find a 17 with the right bs and offset, but I don't think that its possible.

Anyone else have a clue?

Btw: I'd love to be able to put 16's on it.

Cheers,

Doug M.
