Hey gents,
was wondering if I could get a vizzzzzual of how the OME lifts flex.
Please, take a moment...scrounge up some pics of your rigs and show em off to me.
Im really anxious to see how the perform....

Thanks,

Thanks for the pics brokenparts,
Looks as if your were about to spill:eek:
How do you like the performance of OME's?
Im debating on the SOA, or the OME's and leaning more towards the OME's...
I did want to see pics of how they function to make a more educated decision.

BTW, that s a neat looking front bumper you have there, and a nice lookin rig.

Overall, I am more than pleased with the springs. I was really tempted to do a soa but the local Landcruiser shop talked me out of doing it (imagine that... a shop that talked me out of spending money there). There is a lot of off camber stuff here in oregon and he said the soa would get the wagon too high. I'm sure you could do a soa and keep it low but this OME lift does just fine... Either way you should be fine as long as you dont get too high (if you plan on trail driving it).

The bumper is pretty nice. The guy I bought this rig from was a stainless fab worker and built it. I like it but its going to be on the chopping block here really soon as I just bought the man-a-fre winch bumper. Thanks for the props!

Tapage,
What kind of lift did you have on before the SOA?
Did you put some wheel spacers on the axels to widen the stance with the SOA?
Thanks for posting the pics...looks bad ass.

Yeah, I do mostly trail stuff...Once in a while on the trails, we get into a little "rock crawling" (im using that term very loosely).
Mostly, Im battleing with my ego on this decision. The SOA's look so frickin cool, and they really show off their flex where the SUA's arent really all that impressive to photo/ watch etc (IMO).
The OME's is about half the price of the SOA (doing it right). I really wanted to get a feel as to how well the OME susp. performs and to see some pics...Like I said...there are TONS of SOA photos, but seemingly not too many of the SUA's.

Thanks for the pics and response.

Here is FJKai's on the trail. He is running the Dakkar lift with extended Downey shackles.

Thanks for those...that was JUST what I was looking for.
Not too bad...I was expecting much less flex from everything ive been reading/ hearing.

Just an OME 2.5 and Shackle Reversal kit both from MAF. aaaa after SO 2" wheel spacers from Marlin.

Thanks .. for compliments.

Tapage,
Have you had any problems running spacers, or are the pretty bullet proof?
The reason I ask, is that ive read on here some debate regarding safety issues with spacers.

I ran OME for like 2 years and liked it but love the SOA....also I am running Al spacers up front and in the rear no worries as of yet and I drove the truck like 2 years with em....

SOA guys with spacers,
Did you guyz have to do any fender trimming, or are you safe with the clearance?
How are the SOA's on side hilling? Do they feel pretty tippy?
Petersons 4wheel mag did a good little write up on SOA vs. SUA.
Seeing the pics of SUA, there really isnt all that much flex it seems compared to the SOA's. Its probably apples and oranges I under stand...IM so torn.

With flat springs on my SOA, I can stuff the piss outta 35's and they will never rub. 37's rub slightly for me on the front only.

I was worried about my CG being too high which is why I stayed with flat springs for the SO (that and I wanted to be able to fit in my garage). You can tell a difference on a sidehill, especially with the 37's on, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. It doesn't feel that tippy to me. For me, the additional articulation and ride quality make up for the slightly higher CG.

I'm gonna throw in my .02 about why I never ended up going SOA. With the height you end up losing a lot of usefulness off the trail. It's a pain loading/unloading a rig that high, especially with kids, dogs, stuff from Home Depot etc. A little tune-up requires a step ladder (and good balance). If the truck is for mostly trail then a SOA is the way to go but if you want something that's still user-friendly around town you might want to think hard.

Good thread, I'm currently debating the same issue and leaning toward the OME setup for ease & convenience. Since the 62 is primarily the wifes rig & shouldnt see anything harder than TDS the OME will probably be more than enough, and stability / driveability is the primary concern, having a seperate rock rig helps a lot too.

Question: For the guys actually running & getting flex from the OME setup...

Are you using stock brake lines or extended ones?
If extended, whose & do they work?
Are you still running sway bars front and rear?
Extended links?
Disconnects & if so from where?
What tire size & wheel size/backspacing?
Would you do it again or what regrets/down sides does the system have?
