So - sorry to pull this up again but what is the final conclusion? Current OME springs for 40s don't have the M wrap?
And who's the best vendor to buy a complete (all OME/ARB parts - shackles, bushing, etc.) suspension from (need to ship to Northern California)?
cruiseroutfit?
Poser (do you do this)?
Man-A-Fre?
Thanks!

The reason 40 springs don't have the mil wrap is because ARB and most others incorporated the larger diameter bushing, that came in the FJ60 and 1980 and later 40, into their springs. When they did this the eylet diameter grew and consequently no longer fit in the early FJ40 spring hanger with the extra wrap of steel. If you compare the spring hanger on a pre 80 FJ40 to a later one you'll see that the later ones have the clearance for the larger bushing plus a full mil wrap. If you look around, the only 40 springs that still have a mil wrap are using the old style tiny bushing..
Personally I'd have the larger bushing over the mil wrap, however in the 60 series the only reason to omit it is cost
