I have a 1990 buick skylark 2.5 liter. The a/c was working till i removed and refilled the freon. I've also noticed some changes in my engines idleing, and the idle does not change when I put on the a/c. I bypassed the electric to the compressor and it ran but nothing got cold and the idle never increased. I replaced some relays but that didn't help. The freon pressure is fine. So far i've read it could be a dirty idle air control valve and I'm heading to the garage to try to clean it, any other thoughts would be appreciated. JC

the compressor wont kick on if the pressure is too low, or there is not enuff freon in there. there is a plaque that outlines the amount of charge needed for proper operation.
