Old shock???? (1 Viewer)

Wondering if anyone has an old shock layin around that I could borrow?
Just need it to be able to get the tower and shock tabs located on the front axle.

Its gonna have to be kinda long, not like something for a corolla or something.

How soon? I'm going to try and get my 7100's mounted on the truck next week when i'm off, so i'll have the old shocks from the 80. I'm busy the next two days or else i'd be doing it this week....

I have a friend coming over tomorrow night so i can do some welding on his heep, i'll ask him if he has one lying around (he's got all sorts of parts!)

Well, id IDEALLY like it for later this week. I work the next two days, so Im screwed that way, but I could pick it up Thur. or Fri.

I would need eye bolt- eye bolt. Im gonna be ordering a set of doestch techs, but have too many other expenses at hand where I cant spring for em right now, so Im stuck. Cant progress till I get everything welded on the housing where it needs to be. Once that is accomplished, I can paint and re assemble the front axle and MOVE ON.

My buddy said he doesn't have one (figured he would since i'm welding shock mounts on his jeep too.) but he'll ask around.

You're on Reno4x4, right? guys on there are pretty good at helping other out with that type of stuff. Im sure someone on there has a old shock lying around.

He works down by the store, i could grab the set from him and bring it to work if you want? I work at sportsmans warehouse and i'll be there on thursday.

I have 2 sets of shocks that you can use would need them back but I have a set that are 14" and 12" travle. I will bring to the meeting tonight.

We've had pretty good turn outs this summer. Last night we had, Shawn, Mike and myself, John was there as usual, as well as Will, Paul and a new face Dave.


BTW We also held elections, the incumbents were re-elected by a landslide.

Glad to help Kieth just let me know when your done I won't need them for a while if at all. I will be coil over for the front but may only go coils in the rear, but still need to build a lot before that.

Got my ford towers today, and I already have the shock tabs, so I just need to shocks to line it all up.

Ford towers are a REALLY popular mod to gain shock travel. They are cheap (30 bucks for the set), and pretty much all you need to do is weld em on. I used em on my 62 build. Theyre dont have the "BLING" effect that hoops do, but I dont care much about that.
Funny thing...the guy at the parts counter at the ford dealership...I told him I wanted ford F250 towers. He says "you buildin a crawler?" I said "yessir". He said, "the only reason I sell these...is for what youre doing. We dont sell these for Fords." There is enough of a market for them just in the wheeling community they keep them stocked. Thought that was interesting.
