Hi guys. I put a 2” Medium Old Man Emu lift kit on my 99’ Landcruiser 2 years ago, without putting the OME torsion bar. The car of course sitted at an angle, with the front noticeably lower than the back.
Yesterday, my offroad shop installed the OME torsion bar, and now the car sits nice and lifted overall, BUT, my ride stiffed up quite a bit.
I assume this is from the pression the torsion bar is set at so that it lifts the front.
My question is, will the torsion bar “break in”? Will it slowly setlle itself and soften the ride?
Or is it just something I’ll have to live with it?
Looking to hearing your opinion!

I guess "ride quality" is very subjective. If you run a search here, you'll see 100 people saying OME suspension rides like crap, and then 100 more that say "it's not that bad". I have no personal experience on the subject!

From what I've heard emu is designed to be used with added weight. People that have heavy front and rear bumpers, drawers, roofrack, etc say it rides great. Reindexing stock bars and spring spacers would be better for a stock weight truck. I haven't heard that spring break-ins will have that dramatic of a effect.

I had heavy rear springs and OME shocks and it rode horrible unloaded. When I had my heavy tent trailer connected it was great. I just removed them and replaced with ToughDog rear springs and all 4 shocks. I love the new ride quality of the Tough Dog over the OME for what I do. I’m saving the OME rear springs in case my trailer is too heavy for the TD’s.

I have the 1.5" medium springs with stock TB's and it rides great unweighted. I plan to add front bumper/winch and will determine if i need OME TB's after install.

NOTE: I didnt buy the kit only the rear springs. Stock TB's and some aftermarket shocks i dont recall the name now...

Did you check your tire pressure? Shops usually like to set the tires to whatever pressure they want.

Did you change shock with the lift? If so and used the OME Nitro Sport Shocks that's your issue. I have the OME 1.5" Medium lift with OEM shocks and it rides great.
