the power steering isn't what scares me, it's the bent up drag-link(someone please insert the "scary steering link" here if possible)
Hmm... I looked on the TAC part of the webpage, how do I go about joining or finding out when the meetings are? Thanks!
Yepp... I know it's scary. There's alot of scary s*** on this rig... Altho I will say I have seen alot of Z bar drag links on rigs and they work fine for a band aid.... It's definetly not staying that way nor is it our handy work. This rig whas jerry-rigged by prev. owner. That's what we get for buyin somethin off of Ebay tho....
We've been working out all the problems little by little... you shoulda seen the crooked homemade rear driveshaft. It was ridiculous. The floor has been re-skinned under the drivers seat with the side of a maytag washer or dryer...
The box was a 60 box, and it was fullnelson on here who did the swap. I also think that Sarfari Ltd in Grand Junction has done one or two of them too.
Hey, at least you get to wheel your dad's rig!
The 60 power steering is one of my favorite mods to my 40 series, next to my Turbo. Hugh at Safari-Ltd. changed from his Saginaw setup to the 60 box on his 45 short bed and has also been really happy. Poorwally's in Bennington, VT did the conversion for me. The key is to reinforce the frame horn where the box is to be mounted. 1/4" plate from the shock tower to the bumper is what I got, and it has held up great for about 5 years so far.
