yup, storm acomin'

better be plenty of snow...

North LA county / Gorman etc snow run soon?

Stuff had better hurry up. Annual scout skiing trip is 1.23-1.25 and I hate skiing on the man made shiat!

Our place is at 3,000 ft and we have graded dirt roads in the development. When it snows out here- our roads turn to mush.

Throw in a few unprepared neighbors trying to make it up the hill in their 2wd drive cars and SUV's - and you have a great spectacle:popcorn:.

It is even funnier to watch my wife wheel her little Subaru past all of them.

Since I am a good neighbor-I guess I better get the tow straps out - :D

Im down to play in the snow. If we do it on sunday, im in. Saturday is my ham license test day.

North Los Angeles is good for me.

I will be up in Green Valley Lake over the weekend if anyone is up for a Crab Flats/Deep Creek run.....

I would like to tag along. I'm subscribing to see where.

If its Gorman / Hungry Valley, I can bring a couple of ATV's too

as I mentioned in Trails, it will likely be critical that somebody who knows where to go chimes in. Last time, I went around blindly in the Gorman area and it turned out that all the obvious spots were closed (cuz of the snow unsurprisingly). So, saw a lot of snow but could not get to it really.

It's getting cold up here.....Woke up this morning and it was 26 degrees. There is currently a very thick layer of fog and it is trying to snow, but nothing yet. We filled up a thermos full of coffee and headed down to Crab Flats and then took the trail up to the locked gate heading back to Fawnskin. It was great, there was no one out there and the fog made for a peaceful morning. Hopefully most if not all of the closed trails/fire roads will be open this year after the fires.

The rangers are real quick to close Alamo, Lockwood Creek, Miller and Yellowjacket as soon as some snow hits the ground. Hungry valley is sometimes open when there is snow on the ground.

BC109 is always open has mild 4 wheeling, rocky 4 wheeling, sometimes muddy 4 wheelng and I beleive green sticker access. 109,s Trails are all in various river washes. It's a little more of a drive to get there, its near the intersection of Lockwood Valley Rd. and Highway 33 in Ozema.

Chuchupate Ranger Station (661-245-3731) near Lake-of-the-Woods controls all those areas

the problem with 109 is that it's much lower (is it 3000 or 4000, forgot) so when there is snow in Frazier Park there may not be any in Lockwood valley. It is fun though, boulders are as big as you want them to be out there...

There is Bald Mtn south of Gorman (Off Hwy 138 just east of I-5). Turn off on Ridge Rte Rd (8N04 paved) and follow it FR 7N14 up the mountiain and into some good snow. We went there a few years back and ended up at some open camp ground, can't remeber the name of it..... Good place to let the kids get out and play... Sorry I only went up there once and can't remember the directions completely. But that is pretty much the extent of it if I can recall correctly. I'm thinking about going next Sunday 12/21, with my brother.:steer:

Not sure where the snow is but it is getting friggin cold around here. The temp never broke 20 today and had a low of 8!

Where is "here"? Your location says "SoCal", and I know it was 60 where I live in SoCal.

8?!? DAMN man that is cold! I was outside earlier and the temp said 54 and I swear with the wind it felt like it was just above freezing. And I can really tolerate cold weather!
