Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can offer me some theories on how my oil pressure gauge (standard factory dash on '89 BJ70 Hardtop with 3B engine) is giving me strange responses?
I noticed yesterday about 10 minutes into the drive that the needle had dropped out of site no where to be seen, then it slowly came back up to pretty much right on the low line and didn't move.
After my 45 minute drive I turned off ignition, then turned key back onto on position but not starting the engine and after about 30seconds the needle went up to about half way (normal-ish) position!
Today after checking connections and doing a bit of research on here I pulled off both connections to the sender unit and the needle still reads the same...where would the gauge be receiving a signal from if there is nothing attached to the oil pressure sender unit?!?!
Also wondering if I should just remove this old sender unit and buy an aftermarket one and install an additional gauge? Is it important to know what my oil pressure is doing or will I get warnings another way if things are starting to go wrong?
This might be a real rookie question/error but I figured where better place to be taught a thing or two!?
Any help would be great!
Thanks!
