I am trying to change the oil pan gasket on a 2F and the front U shaped gasket keeps popping back into the oil pan and out of place every time I tighten the bolts. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Peace
Ian

You should have bought the one piece... Oh well, you have it now. zip tie the u-shpaed pieces in a circle over night. Then, put a little make a gasket on them (enough to glue them to the oil pan) and let the stuff get tacky... then instal it. Good luck

You tightening the bolts from the center to the outsides like in the manual? The u shape part of the gasket should sit in a grove on the block. Little RTV around the corners just to keep the gasket in place helps a lot.

If it isn't a Toyota gasket, that's the first place to start.

I like to stick the gasket to the block first with a bit of permatex, then install the pan.

Thanks a lot guys. I used a ridiculous amount of permatex make a gasket and it held just fine. She's got no more leaks! Thanks again.

should never use rtv silicone on oil pans, use high tack instead unless you want bits of silicone plugging your oil pump
