I did the oil pump and crankshaft seal a few weeks ago (some may recall my posts regarding a tapping after completion which turned out to be the fan pulley which wasn't all the way tightened) and I think I may have worsened a leak possibly.
I've noticed oil drops from the drain plug (aka the lowest point), and still see a small bit of oil on the crankshaft seal, and going back. I didn't clean it all up after installing, but I'm wondering if it's just taking the seals a while to set. It's been at least two weeks, and I drive if for at least 30 minutes a day. I'm using synthetic Rotella 5w40- should it have stopped leaking by now? I assume my pan is leaking some too, but it's hard to tell what's going on with the pump and crank seal.
Any advice? I'm going to hit it with brake parts cleaner and see what returns as my first idea. Are there any easy to reach/change seals in the front pan area that I can change out as well? Or try some Lucas or similar to swell the new ones up a little?
