I did the oil pump and crankshaft seal a few weeks ago (some may recall my posts regarding a tapping after completion which turned out to be the fan pulley which wasn't all the way tightened) and I think I may have worsened a leak possibly.

I've noticed oil drops from the drain plug (aka the lowest point), and still see a small bit of oil on the crankshaft seal, and going back. I didn't clean it all up after installing, but I'm wondering if it's just taking the seals a while to set. It's been at least two weeks, and I drive if for at least 30 minutes a day. I'm using synthetic Rotella 5w40- should it have stopped leaking by now? I assume my pan is leaking some too, but it's hard to tell what's going on with the pump and crank seal.

Any advice? I'm going to hit it with brake parts cleaner and see what returns as my first idea. Are there any easy to reach/change seals in the front pan area that I can change out as well? Or try some Lucas or similar to swell the new ones up a little?

PS I also did the distributor seal a few months back, so I know it's not excess coming from it

if its still leaking from teh oil pump seal, its not going to get any better. My guess is you've got the notorious oil arch pan seal leak as well

FYI, same thing happened to me. It took about a month after I replaced the front main and oil pump cover seal before it sealed up completely. I was pretty bummed out during that period after doing all that work. But its been at least a year now and not a drop!

Fingers crossed for the seal to swell. If it is the arch seal, would the oil "leak upwards?" Like would the crankshaft pulley or wind/fan pull oil upwards at all? I haven't ruled out the drain plug itself leaking too, but it historically hasn't.

I just did the crank and pump cover and see the same problem. It looks like it's coming from the crank seal, but it could just be coming down from the pump cover. Hard to tell.

@Luke84, did yours stop leaking or did you have to redo the seals?
