Looking at "worst scenario"... replacing gasket...good book suggests removing injection pump and so on...is it possible to manouvre cover with cooler attached in order to replace gasket

Its going to be difficult either way but removing it with the pump in place looks to be the greater of 2 evils

Thanks... you've boosted my confidence ..guess...all can do is try n see.The lesser the evil the better...cheers

Its those 3-4 bolts along the bottom of the cooler that look difficult. You could get underneath and just see if you can reach them with a spanner.

Yea will be tricky ...moreso is once covers undone and with the cooler attached can it be withdrawn past the injector pipes (...wishing not to seperate cooler ) thank you

and with the cooler attached can it be withdrawn past the injector pipes

Oh yes, it may have to come out an inch or 2 because of the cooling pipes. Im starting to think you should be looking for a good puller

thread revival. i have my pump off for rebuild. looks like i have quite a bit of oil on the undersurface of the oil cooler and wonder if this is my source of leak. i’ve never pulled one of these off. do i need to drain the block of antifreeze to do this? there is a coolant line to the injector pump that comes right off the side. i don’t want to pull it and have all my coolant on my floor. would rather it end up in a bucket. the oil above i think is just drip down from trying to fill in the wind with no funnel!

further to the above post i gather that this cover is actually coolant behind it and not oil. i don’t have oil in the coolant so i think my oil cooler is fine. i’m just trying to track where this oil leak is coming from
