Hey all,
Recently purchased a 1995 Land Cruiser Prado KZJ71 with 4cyl, 3.0. This is my first diesel so I’m out of my element a bit. What’s the best viscosity oil, normal daily driver for age and year. It has about 110,000km and runs like a sewing machine. Any suggestions on oil vendor, etc? While I’m at it is there anything else I need to concerned about that usually goes out at this point typically?
Thanks all!

Any diesel oil from well known oil distillers will be ok. You should get a service manual and go right through it. You need a 1KZ T or
1KZ-TE engine manual and a 7* series body chassis manual for the gearbox diffs and body. Right now, I would be doing all the filters , timing belt and oil. For oil viscosity you could use 5-30w or 10-40w as your summer is coming, but I would ask for advice locally for winter

Also, take care of the coolant system, they can often be the cause of cracked heads. Toyota Red is widely used and easy to get. A new radiator cap is a good investment and have a good look at the hoses

Thank you Rosco for all the input. I was able to find a owners manual online with some good info. I actually live in Japan now but want to be able to do must of this stuff on my own. Language is somewhat of a barrier. If something comes to your mind that I should be checking, PM man. Thanks!

ToyoJPN, would you share your owners manual (if it’s digital)?
I’ve had a 93 Prado same engine for a year now. Love it.
