I managed to screw up my first oil change on our new to us 200.
When I went to remove the oil filter housing plug, the whole filter housing came off. In my infinite wisdom to remove the plug while off the truck, I broke the support tube.

I have a toyota filter and a jowett billet filter housing here too, but not sure what I need to do from here. Do I need a new support tube either way?

Yes. The support tube is transferred over to the Jowett housing. Sorry bud.

Edit: tabs up and spin to remove, insert into Jowett housing, spin, tabs down.

The support tube helps prevent the filter collapsing and blocking all oil flow. I’d say it’s orettu important.

The filter covers are broken often enough that I’ve seen aftermarket ones available at auto parts stores. Maybe see if they have one and whether the support tube can be used on your new cover?

There is a number of Toyota products that use the same tube, you may be able to pick one up at a wrecking yard cheap. There are 2 versions 1 is taller than the other.

Can you show a picture of what you broke? Maybe we engineer a bush fix.

The tube is only held to the bypass valve by a couple of small punched indents. If you remove the bypass valve from the bottom of the cap, you should be able to reattach the tube to the valve.
