I am hoping to find some good 3 day explorations in the woods with the family. I was talking to some other people on here that are looking for the same thing. Not just a place to rock crawl, but where to go to really get away from everything in the sense of our neighbors on the other coast. If this has been covered before, feel free to :flipoff2: me, but please point me in the right direction as well. There are probably good places to find all this info., but after googling, haven't really found the right spot. Again, it is more about getting away with my wife and daughter for a few days in the great outdoors than seeing how bad I can trash my truck....would rather the wife not be there for that :)

Stone Mountain........... Very Funny, but if you catch the lazer show, No one does Dixie like Elvis
Growing up here you use to be able to head a little North and be free to wander. Heck, we use to skeet shoot at the lake that is now North Point Mall. Maybe I have just seen too many pictures of out west with deserted beaches or wide open countryside trails and dirt roads.

Drew,
A few years ago we went to Tellico in February. We rented a nice cabin outside Tellico Plains and just enjoyed the weekend. One thing that we did that was very enjoyable was to park the truck in the parking area next Bald River Falls along the Tellico river. Then we hiked the trail adjacent to the falls and went several miles upstream. It was a very nice area, no crowds and we all had a great time. The cabin was fully equiped so one night we fixed a great meal and another night we enjoyed the dining in Tellico Plains which is very good considering the size of the town, plus we always enjoy breakfast at the little diner on the square.

There are probably similar options closer to home that we haven't checked into yet.

Good luck
