I took the soft top and doors off of the FJ40 and installed a bikini. If you look close you'll also see that the skid plate is now flush with the frame, woo hoo!

I also did some work on my Willys J**p. I removed and rewelded the rear-most cross member 2" further forward so I can get a gas tank in the back. Started fabbing a new transmission cross-member for properly support the T-18 AND have clearance for the transfer case.
And I made a couple of runs to Goodwill to get rid of stuff that I'd just be getting rid of in a year if I didn't do it now.
And John, if you want a swingout tire carrier that mounts to the driver's rear corner of the body and can hold your spare and 2 jerry cans, I am disposing of the one that came on this truck.
Looks good, nice work. How strong would you say that is? I'm wondering if it would bend when driving in high wind.
I love his 40.....but the rims gotsta go....IMO...
I think the best choice is the old factory steelies with the center caps, like what you see a lot on the Cool Cruisers calenders.

I had a set of 5 of those when I got the truck. In fact the spare on the tire carrier in the photo above is one of them. They're just not my preference so I sold them to SSCR. Now he just needs to buy a 40 that he wants to keep and install them.
