my cheap skates suck, and then being pissed I cannot buy new ones.

You are such a cheap skate you buy cheap skates?!?!?

I miss Tony, he would of actually made that funny.

Tony who?

I took the soft top and doors off of the FJ40 and installed a bikini. If you look close you'll also see that the skid plate is now flush with the frame, woo hoo!

I also did some work on my Willys J**p. I removed and rewelded the rear-most cross member 2" further forward so I can get a gas tank in the back. Started fabbing a new transmission cross-member for properly support the T-18 AND have clearance for the transfer case.

And I made a couple of runs to Goodwill to get rid of stuff that I'd just be getting rid of in a year if I didn't do it now.

And John, if you want a swingout tire carrier that mounts to the driver's rear corner of the body and can hold your spare and 2 jerry cans, I am disposing of the one that came on this truck.

He didn't want mine. He's a dick like that.

Yours was gay. Jim I might want yours.

This is what it looked like installed. It closes with a nice tight latch on the passenger side. It may use the same holes as the stock carrier, but I'm not sure since I never had one. I'm pretty sure I have all the hardware from when I removed it.

And if you're looking for a cheap solution to the 'no mirrors' issue, this is what I did when I took my doors off since the mirrors I have mount to the door hinges.

It's basically a cheap rectangular head from Pep Boys and a piece of aluminum tubing from Ace cut, ends compressed in a vise and holes drilled to match the windshield hinge bolts.

I also have and extra driver's side arm like the ones that were on when my top was on. I just don't have a head for it.

Most 40's look like crap in alum wheels but that actually looks decent and your 40 over all looks awesome!

I love his 40.....but the rims gotsta go....IMO...

I've had it up over 50 on 75th street in Naperville and it's been fine, but I haven't taken it on the freeway since removing the soft top. I would probably remove it to wheel, though, 'cause a tree would take it out pretty quickly.

Looks good, nice work. How strong would you say that is? I'm wondering if it would bend when driving in high wind.

I think the best choice is the old factory steelies with the center caps, like what you see a lot on the Cool Cruisers calenders.

I had a set of 5 of those when I got the truck. In fact the spare on the tire carrier in the photo above is one of them. They're just not my preference so I sold them to SSCR. Now he just needs to buy a 40 that he wants to keep and install them.
