Nuts gave loose on the O2 sensor while driving. Had just narrowed down where the leak I've been hearing was. Found the heat shield. No nuts.
Tried what I thought where the right size nuts but could not get them started.
Upon further observation, the top half each stud has had rust applied and will not accept a nut at this time.
Don't know if a thread chaser will do it or not. Other wise it's off to the exhaust shop. Hope they can get me in.
This could really become a can of worms fast. Exhaust. :bang:

:frown: Lame Russ. Don't have much to offer other than good luck.

Get a new bung and studs for them Takes the exhaust shop about the same amount of time to weld in a new bung as it will to try and clean up the threads. You'll be happy you have a new bung and studs if you do.

Of course it helps if you stay out of the salt water too....

Why the new bung? If the studs come out...or can be re threaded the bung won't be needed. Right?
They way I see it, with my luck they'll have to pull the cat and the nuts/bolts holding that puppy on are not good.
We'll see. Keep your finger crossed.

Because then you're not dealing with chasing the threads. Plus if the studs are that badly rusted, they won't want to come out in the first place.

Six to one, half a dozen on the other. :meh:

So...I'm taking the LC back to my guys at 10. They're squeezing me in and they will make an attempt. It's a short time slot. Probably chase the threads on the studs properly. It's Monday and they are always busy but I trust them with my LC.
If this goes south I have other options, but that will involve dropping (not me buddy) the cat/cats (while there might as well check the other one) and this will get messy.:bang:
Crossing my fingers the Land Cruiser gods and karma team up and give me a thumbs up.

OK, just got back and ...success!
They were able to clean up the threads and re-install the O2. Half hours worth is all . :p
The nuts on the other sensor are no longer hexs I'm told.
I'll be ordering new studs and nuts for the next time this rears it's head or sooner if I can get to it.
Yipee for now. (drama, drama, drama)
