After a quick trip to HF this morning I had all the supplies I needed to get it road worthy. Took forever to get the hitch centered and welded reasonably. Still have wiring and the safety chains left before its completely road worthy and then I get to start adding the fun stuff! Again tires are just sitting up there to keep the nose down. Gonna have to get rid of all the stuff sitting at the back of the bed and add some tongue weight before it'll sit nose down without assistance. Currently running a 2" ball on a stinger so I can remove it and put a pintle on for off roading. The front caster is just temporarily there too so I can move it around the yard. Can't wait to take it camping this summer. Imagine all the crap I can bring! I may have to buy a real toilet now and mount it to the tongue!

Removed the canopy which was kinda junky and needs a bunch of work so I think I'm gonna keep my eye out for another one. Finished all the wiring today so it is officially somewhat legal. Still have to get another safety chain and weld them on permanently. I went to the Army Surplus store to get a box for the tongue but I didn't find any that I liked. Same with a Jerry can and holder, they were expensive and I didn't like the design not to mention they didn't have the mount. I'll have to look on Ebay for all that stuff unless someone has anything laying around they wanna get rid of.

Jesse I have a Zuni missile box that I've had a long time but don't really use because when it's loaded with stuff it's too heavy to move around or put up on the roof. Two latches on each side and one on each end. I think about 14"X14" by about 30" long. It's a pretty stout box and you might be able to use it on there. If so you can have n/c. :meh:

Actually measures 11" X 11" X 29"

Hey Chris that might work out nicely. Is there anyway you can leave it outside and I can swing by and see if it works? I would like to get the box mounted so I can hard mount the spares so the whole damn trailer doesn't tip up every time a bird lands on the tailgate!
Thanks!

looking good!!! hay any plans for that steering box out of that truck? if not i could give it a good home, im in corvallis let me know!!

Jesse I will drop it off at your place tomorrow on my lunch, OK? If you need it sooner let me know, I can just leave it out here at the house near the front door.

Chris, that'd be awesome thanks!
91 4runner, that box is going in my 99 when i sas it.

I'll take it with me to work in the AM. Drop it off around 12:45. Hope it will work for you.;)

I believe that box was used to hold Zuni rockets for Huey Cobras. Definitely a Vietnam era item. Jesse's probably looking for a way to get it refilled with the real McCoy. :p

First off, I want to thank Chris for that box! Its abso-friggin-lutely perfect! So yesterday I got a call on my 40's that I had on Craigslist and Pirate. I've had a lot of interest in them but no takers. Anyway after a bunch of text messages from a guy off Craigslist we decide that I'd meet him in Weed. Uhhhhh, trailer was completely untested. So I took a quick 2 mile loop around the block to see how it handled at speed. Everything seemed fine then I remembered my kids put the lug nuts on...I checked them and every single one was loose and then some. Anyway I loaded up 400+ lbs of tires and did 60-70mph to Weed and back. No complaints.

Started on the design and placement of everything today, the gas cans are just their for mockup until I can find some real Jerry cans with mounts, also came up with a way to mount the hi-lift as part of the spare tire mount....

Found these on CL for $10 a piece. Need to get new rubber gaskets for them. If anyone wants one I will pass it on for $10. Two are from the 70's and one is from the 80's. These things are ridiculously expensive usually. Gonna repaint them OD along with the box.

Jesse can you pick up a couple extra rubber seals please. I need one for sure and a spare. I knew that box would work good. You can get most all your tools etc. in there for sure!

I picked up one of those jerry cans a couple years ago- mint condition in the Marine Corp green but don't have a rubber seal for it. It was $5 at a garage sale!! :D

Make sure you get a spout that actually fits in your unleaded fuel filler too and then see if they stay in and don't leak while pouring. Then keep them full or they sweat and rust and also will expand, contract and then crack the metal.

Remember you have that little can of paint I gave you. 1982 Chevy medium blue metalic! Use it on that rocket box! :D
