Popping the pistons out from the bottom is no big deal Ramon. The biggest trick you would have would be if you have a heavy ridge to get past. I dropped the pan on my diesel when I had the head off, popped the pistons to expect the rings and put them back in. You can "rent" the ring compressor from Autozone for nothing to do the job and they even have a ridge reamer if you need it. No need to pull the motor or the crank.

I'll take your 1F, I haven't started the tear down of mine (don't know the best way to start), so I'm not sure what might need to be replaced... My wife will love the fact that I'll have another engine on the property!

Having had such a great time last Saturday at Uwharrie, but getting stuck (twice), and being impressed with Brad's (diggity) set up, I started thinking about improvements I want to make to my stock FJ40 over the long-haul.

They are (in no particular order): 8274 warn winch, 2-4" lift and tires, Power Steering, Bolt-On Step Hugger Slider from White-Knuckle Off Road, Con-Ferr Center Console, Lockers.

Josh pointed out to me the OME 2.5" rear lift kit on MUD and I've almost struck a deal with the seller. Before I make it, I figured I should post a Wanted message for a OME or similar quality lift to see if anyone had one laying around in a crawl space (I heard rumor's of Greg's treasure trove this weekend) or taking up space in a garage they wanted to sell.

Shoot me a PM if you have any of the above. I will have to acumulate slowly and might as well start now.

Warn 8274

I have a used Warn 8274 winch for sale (not the one on my buggy). It's in good condition, roller fairlead included. Needs a remote, was wired to switch on the dash. $550.

Looks like I'm selling my '71 FJ40 this weekend. The buyer is looking for the "stock" transfer case skid and mirrors for when running w/o doors (attach to windshield brackets, right?). He is planning on picking it up on Fri so this is something I'd need to find local if possible.

Mirrors like that are an easy buy from CCoT. skid is more interesting, but I would bet RK has one....or 50.
