Workin on that right now.... :D

If you read, those were just something to show before I went to bed last night. 12 midnight pics with a black rack and gray vehicle don't do well :)

Daylight photos. I'm not a photographer, so....... :D

Looks great. Looks heavy.

And I second the "Why are the pix so small?"

Not heavy, just well made. The steel is all relatively thin, except the mounting plates.

I can't say why the pics are so small...... other than it's photobucket. I can see them fine on my mac here..... :D

Was a lot of work...... between wife, kid, and other around the house BS, took me over a week. Design was easy, it just comes to me, procuring steel easily isn't the case in this city.

Designing the sub-frame to be light enough, yet very strong was a key element. The rack itself weighs practically nothing- I can pick it up with one hand.

If I win the lottery though, I'll take the sub-frame to a shop and have them make one out of aircraft aluminum for me :D

That's hilarious. Why the hell did you use 1/4" plate?? The INTI gutter mount uprights are no where near that thick.

It was convenient, for one. The plates must support up and down forces, and side to side forces. Besides, 1/4" thick steel plates aren't that outrageous- the Inti gutter mount uprights are just as heavy because they have a lot of extra reinforcements which will allow the thinner steel to do the job.

Tried to stretch it a little for ya, but there aren't enough pixels to see detail on the rack.

How loud is it?

Not that loud, to me anyway. I've been living with a Land Rover DII for 6 years with a roof rack, so I am kinda used to them. A little howling... not that much however.

I commented to my wife that people think it's heavy. It's really not, but she says (and I agree with her) that the sub-frame rail width, along with the width of the aluminum side rails of the rack makes it 'look' heavy.

Oh and let me tell you.... that's a hell of a lot of rivets to install as well :D

I think I'll go throw some stuff up there.... 'just because I can' haha
