We have a few Officer Positions opening up this meeting. According to our by-laws, Officers serve two year appointments and are elected on alternating years as followed:

  • President - odd years
  • Vice President - even years
  • Secretary - odd years
  • Treasurer - even years
  • Membership - odd years
  • Merchandise – even years

Positions up for election this year:
  • Vice President - Mike C
  • Treasurer - Chris R
  • Merchandise - (?)
Current officers in those positions have the option to run for re-election or to step down. Now is your chance to step up and serve the club. PLEASE consider running or at the very least nominating another unsuspecting Joe shmoe…(they will thank you later). The more people we can get nominated before the meeting the easier it will be to avoid that awkward silence during the meeting.

:frown: I am not seeking re-elecion this year. I have started a new job and the training and tranisition will be fairly demanding :bang:. I will still try to haul vehicles from time to time as well. I have no idea if I'll be able to take off to go wheeling.

:repost:I would hope someone will step up to chair the Flat Nasty event as well. Come awn y'all.... time to PAR-TIC-I-PATE!!!! :shotts:

well..:hhmm: peggy (my mother the old crow) is a retired banker, i think she can add 1 and 1 and get 2 most of the time ;p

also what is involved in the vp position, i might stick my head out

akward silence...what akward silence?...nice rob i think peggy would make an excellent treasure!...nice choice!...and you for vp...nice.... you have been around along time...should you decide to i think it would be good for the club...i would give merchandise a whirl if no one else is interested...

Very little actually. typically some discusion about the annual meeting, Flat Nasty and a few club purchases a year. Be available if or when the Prez isn't.

Mike and Chris: On behalf of the club I would like to say thanks for all the time and effort you guys have put in to keep this little club of ours running. Both of you were instrumental in putting together TAC’s first two national events. You guys have done a great job and I’m sad to see you go. Thanks for all the help you’ve given me…I really appreciate it.:crybaby:

To clarify, Chris is stepping down from both the Treasurer and the Membership positions so we need to add the Membership chairperson to this year’s election.

Looking through the bylaws I see that we don’t have the Membership and Merchandise chairperson position duties described so I am going to whip up something this weekend and post it for everyone’s review…Please take a few minutes to add your comments then the final version will be amended to the by-laws at the meeting.

I'll work with the new membership and treasurer officers to make the transition as painless as possible. The accounting side consists of depositing and writing a few checks. The membership is basically data entry and sending out a couple of reports a year. Neither will require a significant amount of time.

Right now our membership info is in a MS Access database. This can easily be exported to a spreadsheet if Access is not available. As an alternative I've been tinkering around with OpenOffice - Base which is an open source office suite (i.e. free). I'm getting close, but I have more experience with Access and therefore the differences (and a lack of time) are my biggest issue.

When he puts it that way how can I refuse, I just had to quit laughing first. So if you wnat me I guess you can have me, oh what am I saying??? I have been treasurer of other organizations in the past also. Peggy

What's involved with Membership and/or Merchandise?

I might be able to put myself out there on one (or both?) of these if the time constraints aren't too bad.

Here are my proposed additions to the by-laws to cover the mebership and merchandise job duties. Keep in mind that I am by no means a legal writer...surely someone in our group has the gift of gab and can "fluff" these up a little...but for now I feel it gets my ideas out there. These are sections of article 8: (if anyone would like a copy of the by-laws contact myself or Bob Garrett.)

Section 6: Membership Chairperson
The membership chairperson shall be responsible for maintaining a current roster of club members. He/She shall process new membership applications as well as membership renewals. (Not much to this one.)

Section 7: Merchandise Chairperson
The merchandise Chairperson shall coordinate with vendors and/or other members for the production of club related merchandise. She/he shall be responsible for the distribution of these items to customers/club members or be able to delegate that responsibility to an assisting club member. She/he shall keep a master inventory on all club related merchandise. She/he shall be the contact person for new club merchandise ideas. (The idea is that when someone posts up looking for some club swag this person will know who has possession of the inventory or will be able contact the proper vendor so that inventories can be resupplied.)

Section 8: Delegates (unchanged)

Article 7 will need to include "merchandise chairperson" also.

Go for it andrew...the merchandise position was created last year but we really never got it off the ground. In my opinion this person doesn't need to physicaly keep all inventories but just keep tabs on "who has what" so to speak. in the past we have had various members bring products to the club then a year later, long after it was sold out, we forgot if we still have items or who had them. I'm just trying to streamline this. I'm open to suggestions.
