i just inherited my dads 1995 FJZ80 after years of waiting. i just had a 3" Old Man EMU lift put on it by the guys at ACC in atlanta who did a great job and put some 33" Hankook M/T's on it. i plan on adding more goodies to my truck along the way bt im in college and i want to start trail riding. is there anything in or around Georgia/Souhest that anyone would recommend. im gonna join up with the local cruiser group soon bt i feel like i need a little experience before i go out with them. thanks, and ill put up some pics of my cruiser soon.

p.s.
- if anyone has any suggestions about little things to add to my truck or purchase, cause i know things r going to break, that would be greatly appreciated.

a good offroad school will be teaching you a lot of useful stuff that may keep you from damaging your truck in the beginning.

But they are expensive.

So, if you can spend the money easily, do it. People seem to think they are worth the $$.

If you cannot or don't want to spend that, just hook up with a group. Likely, they will be welcoming and forgiving of inexperience. You'll learn just as well, might take longer but will be free.

Dirty Toy School was very cost effective, but they did not run any classes this year. Maybe 2010.

Just get on the trail with a group from here and learn by doing. No need to pay for a guy to show you how to do it. There are also plenty of free resources that can privy you to the how to's of offroad.

The only 4x4 type driving school that is always in the southeast is the land rover one at the biltmore in asheville.
Some do come and go and you'd just have to keep an eye out for them.
Other than that talk to Georgia Cruisers in their forum they are a great group of guys.

An 80 is one of the best wheeling rigs you'll ever own. Come to a Ga Cruisers meeting, we have them the first Tuesday of every month and introduce yourself.

Michael and Brian are great guys, and do great work.

In regards to experience, no need!! We'll be happy to show you the ropes and may only charge you a beer or two for doing so. Seriously, there's absolutely no pressure to do things you're not comfortable doing. We all started more or less with bone stock trucks and went from there. I remember when I showed up with my rig the first time, it had bald 31's and I had absolutely no "seat time" at all. I looked at some of the other trucks and parked mine, caught a ride with a member and absolutely was hooked (Thanks Cid)

it's your truck and nobody else's, If you don't think you're comfortable doing something then don't do it. This confidence will come in time and trail experience so feel free to come hang out with us.

If you still want to do the offroad school, try Dave Logan. He's a great guy (don't tell him I said so though) and right here in ATL.
