Hi,

Looking for your input on OEM vs. after-market engine mounts. I'm a big believer in OEM having been burned by sub-standard or misfitting after-market parts, but I also want to be cost smart. It looks like OEM is about $10 more each for the rear transmission mounts ($25 each for OEM vs. $15 each for aftermarket). Anyone have any experience with using after-market? Is it worth the additional $40 for the set to go OEM.

Thanks,
Brian

If OEM is available and for so little extra ..... I'd choose OEM.

My B-diesel engine mounts are no longer available from Toyota so I'm running aftermarket (Taiwanese?) mounts sourced from Roodogs (Australia).

These new mounts are 250g lighter than the OEM ones (thinner steel) but look like they'll hold up OK. (The bond between the rubber and steel ....which is the critical thing IMO ....looks good.)

But then I have no other choice but to choose aftermarket.

PS. My aftermarket mounts do have "fitting issues" (but they are minor and easily overcome).

Thanks for the response lostmarbles. Your right that for the $40 premium, it is worth the piece of mind knowing that I should get another 40 years out of the new set.
