To be honest, I tried searching on Google and this site. It's hard to know what to search for.

What is the easiest way to get rid of the 'rainbowish' color on some of the roof rack pieces? Seems that it happens with age. Anyone else have this?

Are you giving me crap for not waxing...or did you have this issue and solve it by waxing? I will admit, I'm guilty of not waxing. :)

When I had a Heep (TJ), I had to occasionally use some Mother's Back to Black on the flares. It would bring the color back for a few weeks. Personally I can live with this level of discoloration since a lot of the restoration products seem to make things worse after a time.

Hayes is shootin ya straight - treat it like the rest of the paint, e.g. restore and protect it. My roof rack (2006) had the same thing going on - kind of spotted, rainbow-ish look to it. Looked like crap. I polished it when I did the paint. I don't have any Before pics of my 100's rack. But I did shoot Before and After pics when I did my daughter's Rav4 a couple weeks ago. The mirrors on her car where even worse than my roof rack.

I used a mild compound, a polish and then a very fine finishing polish.

Here's the before and after...
