Like (almost) everything on the truck, they're a standard metric thread - iirc they have a countersink domed head.
My guess would be M5 - easily determined by screwing another bolt in there by hand and measuring the outer diameter of it.
M5=5mm
M6=6mm outer thread diameter. Very easy.

That'd be the logical thing to do. The problem is, is that it is my sons vehicle and he is at college covered up in engineering courses.

I wanted to order the rear view mirror and have it delivered along with the screws

Ahh I see... well if you look up the screws on the online fiche, the size is coded into the part number - maybe that helps?

The OEM screw is part no. 93239-15012, which is still available for $1.55 list.

The threads are M5 x 0.8mm pitch x 12mm long. It is likely a pan head with integral lock washer.

Think I must be senile. I have to do some checking to see if I'm losing my mind. 68, 70, 71 and 73 windshields I have either the vehicle or parted out vehicle the mirror arm has no exposed screws. There is a bracket screwed to the windshield that the mirror arm snapped into. Idea was in an accident mirror arm would pop off. Installing the mirror arm is a royal PITA being behind the cable that drives the drivers windshield wiper. So am I crazy or has Toyota just carrying non US market mirrors in this year range. Thoufjt this safety feature added the same time as the US required the padded dash. Have some 9/77 mirror that are similar except I believe these are designed to snap and break if hit in an accident. Never hit one to see if it that is actually the case

You aren't getting senile, you've just been duped again by a Toyota parts "cartoon".

The OEM mirror has a bracket that the screws fasten to the windshield frame, and the mirror snaps onto the bracket. This enables you to remove the mirror when the windshield is lowered. The aftermarket mirror in the OP doesn't have this feature.

While the mirror may be aftermarket I think it a repo of a Toyota mirror.

In the upper left corner it shows two types
W/breakaway and L/Breakaway. W= with and L=less I still see a mirror may be available from Toyota but not seeing type A with or type B less. Looking at the US market it only shows one part number 87810-60050. While looking at Australia market during the mid 1970s I show that number and this one 87810-60060. The one that ends 50 show as a sub and price for both is the same. Believe sub is the one you actually received if you ordered one.
Have three cruiser here with this mirror but not going to snap the mirror off to check. Especially the 68 and 70 with wiper cable in the way. Found a picture of my 73 that appears uses the same screw pattern.

I’d like to take a slight diversion into my own thoughts on these mirrors. No offense to the OP.

Due to my non-stock seats I’d prefer a shorter arm. Between my height and seat position, the mirror blocks some of the field of vision of the oncoming road. A shorter arm would raise the mirror a little and be a bit safer. Are any of the different years have shorter arms. Between the mirror and windshield?

This would be the stock mirror assembly

The pre 64 mirrors had a shorter arm. The 64-67 has
Different length arms depending on model. FJ40, FJ45LP or FJ45LV.

Thank you, good to know. You don’t happen to which was the shortest?

Search the 25 section at the bottom of the main page. The pre 64 was the shortest. FJ25 was the same as the the early FJ40. Might consider something aftermarket the early mirrors were pretty crude.
