OME Lift Kit ???

Ok i have attempted to figure it out on my own and i cannot. What is an OME Lift?? Is their a Toy part number, is it just springs?? Please enlighten me. I have an 2000 LC with 100K on it. I am going to be puting on some Blitz HD in a few months, and would like a slight 1" lift without loosing the urban ride quality. Any suggestions.....

Do you mean OME, as opposed to OEM?

OME = Old Man Emu
OEM = Original equipment manufacturer.

You can achieve 1" of lift by having the stock torsion bars adjusted and using some OME trim packers with the stock rear springs, although I think the OME 865 rear spring is slightly firmer than stock and should get you about 1" in the rear, so either option may work. Add some Bilstein HD shocks and ride quality should be better than now.

I have no idea what a Blitz HD is? Wheels perhaps?

Ok, so get a 1" lift, get the OME 865 Rear springs, and adjust the T-Bar. Where is a good place to get the springs??

The Blitz was my mispelling of Bilstein. I was going to the Bilstein HD's for the ride improvement. Any shop recomendations around Sacramento, CA.

You can order the parts from several of the vendors who sponsor the forum. One of the vendors I've used is www.sleeoffroad.com and they are very knowledgeble about your late model vehicle. Give them a call, let them know what you are trying to do, and they will point you in the right direction.

As far as shops in the Sac area, I'm not 100%. Maybe someone else will chime in or check this thread for something in your area:

If you search the forum there are tons of threads about this stuff too. Good luck.

I just did the OME 865 plus T-bars last month with the std OME shocks. I really like the ride vs. stock. I got around 1 1/2 of total lift. Slee provided all parts and labor. Bilstein's may ride even better, but I'm happy with the OME.

First, get the bilsteins installed. Your on and off hwy ride will improve dramaticaly. If you want some lift, get bigger tires next. I love my 285's.

Then if you still want some more height do as Calmaridog suggested, trim packers added to your rear stock springs and adjust the front stock t bars. I have not tried this myself.

The problem with going with OME springs is that they lift the back up at least 1.5 to 2 in (865) and the bilsteins cannot be used. Ask me why I have a used set of bilsteins in my garage.

finally, Ome 865 are 100 series springs that offer more load carrying capacity and the above lift. 860 and 863 springs are for 80 series cruisers that can be used on the 100. More lift yet from these springs.

Hope this helps. and keep searching the forum!

Isn't there a Bilstein shock that accomodates the OME spring lift? I notice that there are several different size shocks available for the model 5150 shock. Does anyone know what the specific travel and shock length is recomended for the torsion adjustment & 2" spring lift (OME 866)?

Yes there are...you can get them from Christo Slee...I think they are at least $800 for the set of 4...maybe more or less...best to contact him directly. But given their relatively high price I don't think anyone has, other than Christo, tried them out.

For 8 bills I would like to see adjustable valving...

Sounds like you like your ride now? Your solution then is easy.

Front: Adjust torsion bars to be 1" higher
Rear: Put 20mm (2ea 10mm) OME Trim Packs atop each rear spring
Get an alignment

Your truck will be 1" taller and the ride will be 100% the same.

Or you can view more lift info (2"+) on the thread in my sig line.

Their are two problems with 5150's. First of all, they can not be valved firm enough for the front end and second of all, the stem mount adaptors that you can screw into the shock when you unscrew the eye are the wrong size, they are too small.

So basically 5150's are out.

But you would want a shock in front with 6-6.5" of travel and 9.5-10" in the rear should work.
