1980 FJ40, speedometer works great and smoothly, 1/10's of a mile keep rolling, but the rest of the decimal places won't roll over past 53,000 miles even. Is there anything that can be done to service the odometer? Any way to squirt some silicone lube or similar in the mechanism?

Update: successful re-build of odometer using Mud threads on same as a guide. The only difference was, the shaft was held in by a staked rolled pin on one end, instead of a metal clip on the very end. The 1980 grease on the shaft was petrified, it was wonder the thing worked at all up until recently. Works great now. I did have to take the instrument cluster back out again after the job was done to clean/re-spring the ground tab for the fuel and temp gauges - there was a post on that too!

Thanks mudders for the fount of all knowledge repository here!
