Hey guys, I'm planning a trip into Atlantic Beach for April 27th for a week!! Is there anywhere to wheel with the family truckster (fjcruiser in sig)?? Keep in mind, I will have my wife and 3 year old son with me! Or just any places I shouldn't miss in the area??
Thanks, Donk
He does love planes, maybe we'll have to hang out! Yes beaufort is on our list from our friends to see also! what"s your favorite seafood place, any little known places away from the crowds? We found a couple hidden places in Bar Harbor a couple years ago! It"s nice to hear from locals...thank you!

Beaufort Grocery Company for Lunch. Front Street Grill for dinner are also good bets, Island in Atlantic is great too. If you are looking for a good diner breakfast try Cox's Family in Morehead on 70. Are you looking to fish or anything? Like the above special ed student said, there is little to no wheeling around there, that is legal at least. If you want to ride down the island about 10-15 minutes, find Big Oak on the left of 54 headed east in Salter Path. They make the best shrimp burger there is. It is a small drive in.
Thanks to both of you! I think we will try to find a way to stay saturday night also to see the air show!! All the eating recommendations will be very helpful! What is the bfort "grocery"? Shrimp burger does sound different!
its not a place for groceries, tricky name. They have really good sandwiches, crab cakes, light (non fried) sea food, big salads, grilled fish etc. Kinda a high end deli meets the ocean.
A shrimp burger is a thing of beauty. It is as many little rock shrimp fried and thrown on steamed hamburger bun with slaw, ketchup, and tartar sauce. If you dont want to drive down the island to Big Oak, There is also a drive in called El's on the left coming into town if you are on 70 headed east into Morehead.
If you are still in the area, the Ruddy Duck is great place, Chef 105 is a pretty good oyster bar and restaraunt. Crica 81 is a cool Tapas place in Newport.
Stay away from the Sanitary Fish Market, food stinks.
New Bern is up north and has some good eateries up there too.
Me, Greg, and Stefan will be in MHC this weekend with a few other guys fishing in Reelin' for Research. Can't speak for everyone, but I'm guessing we'll be going out Sat night. Fri night we'll hit the Welcome Reception at Chef 105, but I have a pretty short leash on my drinking the night before an offshore trip
You at least have to eat at El's once in your life.

ETA - Floyds 1921 is good, but a tad pricey and probably not where I'd take kids. Shepard's Point has a wonderful breakfast buffet (at least used to).
Okay, so far you guys have been "on the money" with your advice!! ONe more thing is with a three year old and the blazing sun, should i go to the airshow tonight (fri) or Saturday day?? and any advise on getting there and parking or just gollow the crowd 'like a good sheep' !?????? thanks
For the airshow the night show is cool! Goggle cherry point airshow and u will get the schedule. I think the blue angels fly at 730. I will be on base till 7 at the front gate. Unfornatley u will have to be a sheep.
The runway is hot for a 3 yr old. But there is tons of sweet stuff for him or her to look at.
