Neither myself or my mechanics have been able to find the OBDI connector on my 2001 LC 4,2L 1THD. Is not in the usual locations under the dash. There is a diagnostic port under the hood on passenger side, but the port connector is not familiar. Has anyone experience similar and found a solution?

If truly OBDI, the port under the hood is it. Need to use a paper clip or jumper wire between the correct terminals, then turn key to on position, and count the CEL flashes to figure out what the code is.

All US-spec vehicles built since 1996 are OBDII.

I guess this is it then. Each of the terminals is marked underneath the cover. Is there any kind of tool that would plug in that would make it easier to read than counting CEL flashes?

Yes, that’s the port. This video is on an 80 series, but it’s the same process for OBD1 on 100 series.

Yeah, the tool is a OBDII reader to plug into the plug under the dash. Much easier than using the diagnostic plug under the hood and counting flashes.

The problem is there is no OBDII outlet on the dash, or anywhere we can find inside the passenger compartment. Is there an adaptor that plugs into the Diagnostic port that I could then plug my OBD2 reader into?
ALso, the woman says go to Trouble??Code.net - I've tried a few combos but can[t find the website
Thanks!!

Did you find the OBDII plug? I don't think you are looking at the right area. I believe it is a law that it has to be within so many inches of the steering column. Assume the Lotus position (upside down under the dash) and look for the OBDII plug with a flash light.

I'll take a look again, but this vehicle was sold in Central America so I don't think the normal US laws would apply :)

OBDII is a US thing. He’s in Honduras. Most countries don’t require it.
