The numbers on the piston tops on a 2F motor have the numbers 28. Can someone tell us if this is the piston size or bore?
We are wanting to replace the rings as the cylinders are in good condition wear wise.
Thanks

Roger that on the mic the bores idea or it could be the number of child labourers used to create that product....or even maybe the crient number

:skull: Yes we are going to mic the cylinder bores, but the question was what does the number represent ??

That number is the cavity or mold number that made the part. There are multiple molds or patterns that all make the same part. That number tells the foundry what exact mold or pattern made that piston. If there are problems with a series of parts and they all have the same number then the foundry guys know which mold or pattern needs to be pulled and repaired.

Good info

zebrabeefj40, that is kind of what I was thinking but some folks are saying it is the oversize or whatever. It nice to get the right facts on parts.
Thank you for that information.
