damn, local shop wanted $360 just to pull em, $30 each to test, and if they needed work test fee waived but then high side of $1000 or low of $600 for the work.

told him i'd think about it, engine runs great though, really no need to fuss about it (especially at almost a grand)

Removal is quite EZ.

Steps are make sure all has been cleaned well so no sand or dirt can fall into the open holes while the nozzles have been removed. PLUS NO BENDING of the lines , remove them in pairs nicely and install the same way , bending / forcing will cause them to crack..

Nozzle tips are a ND-DN4SDND135 making them a 135 spray angle . The other parts that also should / must be replace are the heat shields and seals .

Torque specs are in the FSM. I use grease to hold the sealing washers in place while installing , and after all is torqued blead and run up to temp , I release all fuel line nuts holders just slightly and holders to let any stress out of the lines , then tight till the next time.

Looks like somebody messed up. No labor charge for checking and rebuilding six injectors?

And just how many tips did they have to replace? Invoice says only one?

I want to go to that injector shop!

Tony

no screw up- that was the price and they were happy with the results. Just cleaned them, shim and spray tested the 5 and replaced the one nozzle.

I told people on the boards and they thought I was full of shiat. Well, the invoice does not lie.

Your injectors must not have been bad. Mine are in the shop right now and they all need new nozzles. However, they did tell me they would not charge me to test them. I knew they were going to need rebuilt but just like you they didnt change me to test them. They said they would only charge me to test my pump which didnt need rebuilt just new gaskets and adjusted to spec.

$45-55 per injector w/ new nozzle
$500 to test reseal and ajdust to spec my pump.

Honestly I thought the pump would be less since there was no rebuild but then again I think a rebuild is like $1500 right? I am so far into my engine at this point I figured what the hell, $500 isnt that much to know my pump is good to go.

I've been told 13B-T injectors are dual-spring actuated and are super expensive to rebuild. Any one else heard about this?

I just had the 4 Denso injectors out my Isuzu/FJ60 swap overhauled. It cost $140.00 total for parts and labor, I removed and re-installed them in less 1 hour total time.
Dumas Injector in Long Beach California did the work. It took them 1.5 hours from drop off to call for pick-up...not too bad.

Dumas told me that the worst case mechanical injector overhaul is $65.00 each, mine were easy.

No relation, just a good vendor.

Awesome, that's what I'm looking for a good shop in So-Cal
thanks Doug

I had my pump (HD-T) rebuilt in Tucson for $612 tax included. I have the receipt for that as well.

I have had Redding do a turbo for me, the injectors, and a friend had another turbo-injector-pump done by them for a HD-T. This same friend sent a bad HD-T pump to a Saskatoon re-builder and it was $1,200 US plus freight 6-7 years ago. No deal.

No. 13BT/12HT are single. The 1HD-T is dual. Download the engine FSM and have a look.

That's an unreal price Rick. The bench alone to test the 1HD-T style is specific, and over $10,000.00 if I've been lead correct (by a shop who does not have the bench and can not test the 1HD-T injectors, and sent me on my way).

Always good to know the names of the shops and if they will do work out of state/country.

$612 is quite an inexpensive rebuild. Was it a complete rebuild? Rebuild prices depend on what components need to be replaced. Its something they can't say for sure until they get the IP on a test bench. Still, I don't think you would find any place in Canada or Australia that would do it for under $1200.

I know this is old however I thought I would add some feedback to the archive top help people out.

My 2H in my Troopy has been blowing smoke when I gun it so I wanted the injectors tested, cleaned rebuilt and new nozzles added.

I started with Toyota in California and was told no, then tried Toyota Forklifts as they use 2H engines.

Quote for Nozzle with holder for one injector (parts only $268.47) yes I had a heart attack.

Tried fleyBay found remanufactured injectors for about $350 AUS, but needed a core exchange. Found nozzles in the UK for $33 pds each

So I gave up and took the troopy to a diesel mechanic..

Labor to test, clean & rebuild $30 each new Nozzle & holder $15 each (Total of 6 for this engine)

Labor to strip it all down, road test & tune $150

So for around $400 out the door I was very happy...

That was a fair price for plug and play with a tune up. Usually, you can always find someone locally that will do as good or better of a job than the stealerships for a lot less $. The indirect injection injectors are not difficult or expensive to rebuild and quality parts should not be hard to find.

Did it cure the smoke?
