Really slick product. I got mine yesterday......nice laser cuts, very clean.

the saver can be drilled out to clear 10mm bolts/studs very easily.

i'm currently looking for a reasonable priced option for 8 and 10 mm studs so the customer can choose if they want to drill and tap the case or not.

i'll post up when i come up with some studs. :)

i've decided not to pursue the 8mm stud kit any longer; i've had no luck finding the 8mm studs for a decent price and i'm afraid of the small studs pulling out of the case if torqued too much.

but i have come up with a 10mm stud kit that should be available as of next tuesday. it'll feature oem toyota 10mm studs, grade 8 washers, lock washers and nuts.
this kit will require that the holes in the case are drilled out and tapped, the holes in the nose cone will need to be drilled out, the holes in the gasket will need to be enlarged and the holes in the nose cone saver will need to be drilled out as well.
this will entail a little bit of work and should be done with the transfer case out of the vehicle. if you're somewhat mechanically enclined, you can probably do it in the vehicle as well. there are two main issues with doing so however:
1) getting the holes in the t-case straight
2) preventing any contamination from the shavings created by drilling and tappin the case

doing this work on a drill press would take care of #1 but the case would need to be close to bare. that would also take care of #2.

i have used a shop vac whil drilling the holes in similar situations in the past to prevent chip-contamination and it worked really well. ultimately, it's up to the installer to make sure that the chips don't get into the case or bearings......

i have the first kit on the bench and i'm working on the prototype/mock-up case right now. i won't be able to post pics until i get back from SNT, which will be early next week.

the cost for the stud kit is $17.50 plus shipping. if purchased with the nose cone saver then shipping stays the same at $5.

thanks again for all the support!

thanks for the orders guys!

Wow- cool idea! Are these still available? Seems a heck'ofa lot easier than replacing a nose cone on the trail.

thanks for all the purchases!

Just got mine. Nicely made product that's well worth the cost. Thanks to George for the help/info and all the bolts!

I updated the original post. Fwiw, the nose cone saver kit now comes with oem Toyota 8mm studs instead of the bolts. Stronger and makes install a little easier. So far these have held up really well, no reports of broken nose cones with the saver installed. However, I'm sure if you try hard enough you can still break the case. LOL

Thanks again for the orders, I do appreciate it!!!!!
