What's the difference between this and Cityracer's ? Fuel pumps look similar, I'm guessing early had different inlet location or outlet location that makes it desirable. More info please. I have an early motor I'm restoring with DD40.

Two differences. One is the fuel inlet orientation as you noted. The other is that the outlet has a right angle fitting to meet the original fuel line, where the current offerings have a straight fitting.
