I am restoring an FJ40 "Esmeralda" in Medellin now. You can search "esmeralda" in the search.

Thought I would share with you guys the favorite truck in Colombia which is the gas 2 door 70 model. They like these more than the FJ40. I love them but I am doing my FJ40 for later resale in the US.

I just had my FJ40 in a local Medellin shop get a new custom rollbar and an exhaust and there were two blue gorgeous 70s there. pics are kinda dark.

Then later I went to my interior specialist and he had a PERFECT 70. had NEW looking interior. they were doing a custom top for it.

Personally i would love to have an EFI 4.5 model in the US with a soft top can't remember when they added that motor.

just wait till I drive to Medellin in a few months! ;) Then you will see another 75 in Medellin.. going to stay a while there since I have lots of family there...

Are there any 7 Diesels in Columbia? 12 or 24V?

Just out of couriosity: what's the gas mileage of such a gas 7 series? I get about 18mpg with my 3.6-3.8ton HZJ75...

There are tons of 70s here. Not many diesels and the few that are around are big asking money. the 70s are still popular here that is why you see the guy dumping money in his to restore it and continue to use. Gas tax is high maybe $4.50 a gallon that hurts big time.

Parts for early 3F i am certain there has to be more here than there in USA.

FYI these trucks are called carevacas. CAR AY Bah Cah. Means 'face of a cow'.

They also were called Narco Jeeps and were preferred by Escobar's men for their power. Those days are long gone thankfully.
