I am looking for a NON USA distributor for my 1982 2F FJ45 that has NO emissions as it is stock from NSW Australia but is failing emissions in the US.
Has an electronic dizzy from Trollhole but all indications are showing it not giving full spark (has new coil).
Shoot me a PM with info.

Cheers

I think the distributor part number for that application is 19100-61024, which is a vacuum retard distributor - NSW and Victoria only, the rest of the Australian market had vacuum advance distributors, Part Number 19100-61030. It's basically the same as the early 2F distributors in the US market, and shares the same cam sub-assembly as the 8/76 through 9/77 distributor and the same breaker plate as the 1/75 through 9/77 distributor. The governor springs and vacuum retard advancer are unique to that distributor, everything else is basically the same as the '77 2F distributor. And I believe it has an external condenser, so no igniter.

A 8/76 through 9/77 US market vacuum advance distributor (19100-61021) may be your best bet, unless you can source a 19100-61024 from Australia. You could always substitute in a vacuum retard advancer from a 1/75 through 8/76 if you think it will help pass emissions. I can check the vacuum retard curves to see how similar they are.

The orignal dizzy number was 19100-61130 for the NSW rig. I have been looking now for some time even post a request in Australia with no luck.
I was not aware that it maybe a retard unit as the unit listed shows an advancer unit.
At this point would take anything to get it to help pass the DEQ testing.
Thank you

My copy of Max Ellery's repair manual includes a table that shows 19100-61024 (vacuum retard) for NSW and Victoria, with 19100-61130 (vacuum advance) for the rest of Australia. Also, ToyoDIY.com shows 19100-61024 for NSW.

Do you have a Toyota FSM for the FJ45? The distributor specs are usually found at the end of the manual, with the rest of the specs.

If it originally had a 19100-61130, the only differences from a 1/75 through 8/76 US distributor were different governor springs and a different advancer.

i may have a solution ?

would you consider a NOS UNIT , NON-USA no smog set up ,

PM sent

Well, you may be in luck! I have a newly refurbished '75/'76 2F distributor that I've converted to Toyota electronic ignition, but I could easily convert it back to points, with external condenser. And I went back through my tabulated vacuum advance curves and discovered that I have a good used NipponDenso vacuum advancer with almost the same vacuum advance curve as the 19100-61130 distributor. The advancer is from a '77 non-US 2F distributor I bought off eBay last year. With the exception of the governor springs, it would be very close to the distributor you're looking for.

Here are some photos of the refurbished distributor with a different advancer, and a vacuum advance plot comparing the advancer I have and the 19100-61130's advancer:

That's strange as my ToyoDIY shows the 19100-61130, but it did not have that installed when I got it, it has a older worn-out type Toyota installed looked more like a fork lift dizzy.
I guess I will have to look for 19100-61024 ?
If you see one let me know or even one will work.

Thanks much

Pic-1 Coil am using, P-2 carb installed p-3 dizzy that may still have P-4 gat on dizzy now P-5 6 coil installed now

The gap above the clamp looks like it's excessive. It should be like the third photo. BTW, that looks like a '79 or '80 2F distributor.

EPC show OE dissy as 61024 or NSW 80-83

I'm not familiar with Oregon smog laws but why specifically are you failing smog test - Visual? Tailpipe emissions? Missing components?

The Best Distributor is the 61080 or the 61180 still available NEW from Toyota, they are points dissys, but if you want electronic have a Pertronix kit installed and delete the igniter. I'm sure 4Cruisers or Matt can help you with that.

Is smog compliance making you find the EXACT OE distributor? How TF would they even know?

The 24 is a good match for this 82, also the 19100-61130 but hard a hell to find. The dizzy I have now as said is a Trollhole E-dizzy that seems to be not delivering a 100% power and a few other small issues, but the smog issue is now mainly falling on the plug wires giving a unsteady lean miss kicking the readings up and down on the emissions tester were I have a set of OEM wires on the way. I am working with 4Cruisers on a possible replacement for the dizzy as for the orignal dizzy it's that I want what was in the truck when built just the way I am, I will find one one day and maybe ask 4Cruisers to upgrade it for me or just leave it as points. All in the works brother, take care thanks for the info.

Hey anyway you can tell which distributor on this engine?

Price was too good to pass up. Mainly liked the cyclone air cleaner. Believe I dated to 11/83. Still sitting in Victoria where it was purchased. Would that put it in this odd distributor group?

Looking at the spreadsheet in the 2F Serial Number thread, 2F 759197 is August '83. The next number on the spreadsheet just so happens to be my (former, now owned by @mcguirejohnson ) '84 FJ60's 2F 792002 (December '83), so November '83 looks right for your 2F 768278. Your distributor looks like a 19100-61130 vacuum advance distributor - it has the same distributor housing as the US market 1/75 through 9/77 2F distributors, before they went to the three-screw distributor cap hold-down set-up.

Your Dizzy Photos show a USA SPEC. MED Cap Unit .............

the NON Circular 3 Sided type cap is a smoking GUN .....

you also have a Igniter Style Magnetic Pick up coil set up , this is a USA Spec ONLY design for reduced emissions requirements , and overall Reliable Life time NO POINTS to adjust ever Performance ....

see japan Toyota MR T viewed usa land cruiser people as lazy round eyes and likely to complain too much if points requiring periodic adjustment and replacement from normal wear were involved .....

so we got state of the art technology while the rest of the global spec market got WWII Vietnam era tech.

NOW your home work :

i see clearly , a original NIPPONDENSO Chrome Foil parts label in this photo under cap behind the double spring loaded tension clamp that will hold in place the 2 green igniter Splash proof YAZAKI Ignition Connectors inn place .........

take a close up clear crisp concise photos and report back posting them here

this will yield much info and what exact dizzy you have below here ?

just a fyi as well :

@4Cruisers is both the 40 series and 60 series communities Resident Oaricle on anything OEM NipponDenso Ignition related ........

we are all lucky he is here to help and learn from ... :)

Okay the picture shown is of my 1980 FJ40s dizzy that is long gone to a buyer on Mudd a few years ago. I am well aware of its specs and history it was just having a few issues.
It was just a reference picture to show what I put in the 45 before it started to have problems, then I went with the Trollhole dizzy.

Cheers
