As the subject line says, nominations are open for officer elections at the last meeting of the year. The way TLCA is structured, each elected officer serves a 2 year term, with half of the officers elected one year, the other half the next. This overlapping was implemented back in 2000 to assure continuity from one year to the next. The term starts with the first meeting of the year following elections.

This year we have the following positions up for nomination/election:

EVP
Secretary
WIR
EIR

When we created the IIR position, that position is up at the end of 2010. Herb has tendered his resignation, so it is also open at this time.

Nominations may be made live during a meeting or electronically either here or on the bodreps email list. Nominations must be closed the meeting prior to the election! Our next regular call-in meeting will be the last Thursday of this month, Oct 29.

For general responsibilities, see the bylaws:

Bylaws

And the SOPs:

Standard Operating Procedures

These haven't been updated to show IIR but are otherwise correct.

A couple other points:

A contractor may not have a vote on the board, and chapter delegates would need to arrange a new delegate to represent their chapter. Any TLCA member can be an officer, they do not need to be a chapter member, and any TLCA member may nominate themselves or any other TLCA member as an officer candidate. Only elected officers and chapter delegates may vote. The President can not vote except to break a tie.

Please consider volunteering, we need your time and talents! Note that you can nominate yourself, and if you wish, simply say that you'd like to be considered for volunteering for XX position. This is a volunteer organization, and most of what you get are keys to the executive washroom and the knowledge that you are giving your most precious resource: your time and work to help TLCA continue to be successful!

Thanks and happy cruisin'!

I nominate Ross Woody for Secretary, he's done a heck of job for us!
EIR- Thom Placier if you still are interested, I think you've done a great job!
WIR- Corey Filmore if you still are interested, keep up the great work!
IIR- Charla Downey from Peace Canyon Swamp Donkeys. I cc'd her.

Seconds anyone?

Why not? You've done a hell of job!

Thanks, but focusing on fam and local club. It's not like volunteering for the TLCA eats up that much time. I did my two years, brought in 2 clubs and have talked to lots of great members trying to get them to renew. Four years would be too much.

Completely understandable! Thanks for your service and I hope to see you at an event soon.

I'd like to nominate Eric Putnam (aka Doc) for the position then. He just moved to Utah from Iowa and served as the Tall Corn Cruisers president this past year. Heck of a guy and his son at 3 years old is the best spotter we had at the Tall Corn Cruiser Classic 2008 :hillbilly:

After chatting with TM about his position I have decided to decline the nomination for the time being.

I would love to help out the TLCA in any way possiable, but I just don't believe I have the time to devote every week to the job. My efforts would end up being half-@ssed and I don't believe that is what the club needs right now.

I probobly need to get involved on a more local level. If I can ever get to the required number of Wasatch cruisers meetings....

Hi Eric,

My PM box is full, but I still have a sticky to call you anyway from a couple weeks ago. Or, feel free to call me, my number is in Toyota Trails.

Happy cruisin' and happy Thanksgiving!

I wasn't full of doom and gloom Jeff, I promise.

No, you weren't .

I think when my kids get older and start doing activities on their own I'll have time to get back into this. I just, frankly, don't have enough time in my week to devote a couple hours every week to calling/ etc...

Well, thanks for at least considering it, Eric. We appreciate it. And let me know if there is anything we can do to help you and Wasatch.
