Hi All,
I have a 99 LC100 4.5L Petrol. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
In the mornings as soon as I start driving, the ABS makes a honking/squeaking/grinding type of noise. Most of the time, this will continue until both the ABS warning light and general warning indicator (and buzzer) come on after about 5 minutes. As soon as the warning lights come on the ABS noise stops almost completely. Toyota have said that the ABS is working fine but that the only solution is to replace the ABS unit at a cost of AU$4000+.
I've noticed that the noise happens more frequently when it is cool and dry in winter (below 12c/53f overnight). Mornings following a rainy warm night (above 20c/68f), there is no noise.
I'm happy to post a video/audio of the noise if this helps. If so, where should I post it?

Thanks,

Just had the same issue. Stealership wanted $1900.00 to replace the MC/ABS EBC unit.

I had them flush the brake system with new fluid and now all is calm.

YMMV but that worked for me. Fingers crossed. Lol

This happened to me right before my ABS went out, which then rendered my brake boosters useless (IFRC). Instead of chucking out 2k to fix it, I just had my ABS disabled. Haven't had any problems since. Don't necessarily recommend this method for everyone, but if you're on a budget, it works

I've run without ABS for long periods. Only issue was emergency stops with the 6000# trailer, which can easily flat spot your nice new front tires.
Its good to have ABS back after one of those.

There is air in the system. Bleed it properly and if necessary flush and drop in new oil.
