Hi all,

I wasn't a very active member but some of you may remember my old rusty 350'd 60.

Well after a two year hiatus I'm back in a cruiser, another 60 this time and can't be happier. She's mostly stock and I'm the 3rd Austin area owner - no rust issues this time. Working out a couple issues with charging and idle but she's going to be my dd with light camping/lakeside duty otherwise.

I'll try to make a meeting soon and get my tlca renewed and rejoin the group.

Probably will not be very active still but want to support and participate as much as I can.

Looking forward to catching up.

Hey Michael, good to see you got another. What did you ever do with that 40 that came from Dallas, the one with the 258 IIRC?

Congrats! It sucks to be cruiserless.

Thanks, that it does...

Guy from Atlanta drove down and bought it, he got a screaming deal cause I was clearing the toys out... Sad day, was actually a 350 in that one.

nice looking cruiser congrats

Thanks - you know I called you about a transfer case rebuild estimate because my old cruiser was on craigslist just to find the new owner already had it in your shop. Got bit by the bug again then and it never really left.

once a cruiser owner always a cruiser owner. there very addicted i sold my 40 then got into CTD but had to get a cruiser so got a 62, then a fj cruiser, then a fj-45 now my oldest son drives a '71 fj-40 that we built together and he is loving it. even on cold days like today he loves driving that cruiser with no heater. got to love being young and loving your 40.
any how good to see your back in the saddle.

A little progress

Partially desmogged last weekend. Need to cut out a block off plate and get more wire for my welder before I remove the EGR tubes.

Anyone in the group here have experience with desmogging that I can borrow some time from to verify my vacuum lines?

I'm bvsvless (didn't have either when I bought it), so I went straight from the drivers side vcv to the egr r port on the carb base, I know when she's first started cold it may stumble a little more this way, any other impacts? Also I have not reconnected my a/c idle up yet so it's capped (as is the small port off the brake booster line).

I'll buy beer or pizza for a verification check. Unfortunately I cannot make the Tuesday night monthly meetings because my little one has soccer practice, but if there is another coffee and cruisers scheduled, I'm going to try and make that (but a little late due to Sat morning games)...

Once warmed up, she's solid and doesn't die at stop lights anymore so I'm happy with the progress not driving around with the choke on, but I would like a second set of eyes on it.

you've probably already seen this, but there are some good pics and diagrams of desmoged 2f's in the "my desmog thread" thread. I have been studying it. My smog pump seized and is gutted right now. I am going to tackle this project soon. Congratulations on your new cruiser.

my desmog thread...

Thanks Aaron - I read that thread more times than I'd like to admit. Post 277 was the critical one for me, I did a very similar desmog to his removing the HAC.

When you get ready to tackle it, PM me, I'd be glad to help wrench on it and bring mine along hopefully for a good comparison.

Hey Michael,

It was good to meet you, and your son, this tuesday at the meeting. See you around.
