Your heater matrix could be full of mud. Disconnect the inlet and outlet and back flush it with the garden hose.
Make sure the heater valve is opening fully as well
There is a good chance your radiator may be partially blocked as well,even if its not a problem yet.

Good advice.....I recently flushed my radiator and heater core and was shocked at the amount mud and crud that pored out of both. The heater control valve had also failed and had to be by-passed on a temporary basis. Also, at least on my Cruiser the heater core is higher than the radiator
so if you are low on coolant you will get insufficient heating.
