Hi people, I hope I'm in the right forum for this question: I'm about to buy a 1962 FJ40 and plan to transport it from GA to NJ. My intention is to use it as a recreational vehicle, weekends, some off road if it proves to tolerate it, maybe a visit to the family and just hang out to show off; but clearly, not everyday use.
Can you guys illustrate me on the pros and limitations of getting a historic license plate/registration? Here in NJ the code states "They must be owned as a collector's item and only used for exhibition and educational purposes by the owner.", which is not my only intention, but on the other hand, my insurance broker tells me premium will be much higher if registered as a regular car.
Besides, if I am not mistaken, being this 62 FJ40 imported pre-EPA (1967) doesn't need to comply with emissions requirements.
Please enlighten me!

I'd just register it as a regular vehicle. Liability insurance shouldn't be that expensive unless you're under 27
