Stink, as in they smell awful!

I saw someone else mention this a few months ago, but can't find the thread.

I thought maybe I got into something, or perhaps the NC mud and stagnant water caused this. Last time I aired down, the air coming out smelled awful. So today I pulled one off, rolled it into the backyard, scrubbed the tire and wheel, and it still stunk.

Can't quite place the smell, sort of like stinky swampwater. Even coworkers have commented on this.

Anyone else notice this? I might stop by Discount Tire and see what they have to say.

I hadn't noticed, I'll have to check it out.

Haven't noticed and my spare rides inside. Picked up a new spare just before Cruise Moab that hasn't been out of the truck and it doesn't stink even when parked in the sun at 115F+. Must be that NC swamp air!:D

maybe you hit a skunk on the way home :hillbilly:

I've had a lot of tires in my life, and the Nitto Terra Grapplers definitely outstink the rest. It wears off after a few months, but mine really reaked when they were new.

yes, but it eventually goes away... :)

I have a set of 4 in my garage, and they smell like regular rubber tires...

Maybe you somehow ended up with a bad batch?

The Michelins never stunk, even after going through stanky water. I noticed the Nittos smell particularly nasty when hot. Otherwise the tires are fine, and my Wife finally believes it isn't me that smells that bad! ;)

That's funny. Mine stink also. I just figured it was new tire smell, but they are still smelling.

But they are damn good tires.
