I decided to pull the trigger on a set of Nittos LT385/70R16 on a RockCrawler 98 series in black steel. Hopefully they'll be in next week. I chose the Nittos over Trxus, M16s and Krawlers and hopefully did the right thing. Will report back to see how they performed. Thinking about trading 3 sets of 5 (1 set of CE rims with BF KMs 315s 95% or better, 2 sets of standard Cruiser rims with street tires) to reduce my inventories but not sure yet. I'll be open to trade for Slee's 6" lift kit/parts in very good condition.

I don't know much about the Nitto muds but a customer had the Nitto dune projects on his race truck, and they held up really well. Also Nitto is affiliated with Toyo.

You are correct. Nitto is a division of Toyo. Part of the reason I chose them plus some good reviews.

uh, this may be sacrilegious to mention on this forum, but i have nitto terra grapplers on my f150 work truck. i believe these are the all-surface version of the ones you ordered. they have been a great tire. i haven't exactly treated them well, but i got over 60,000 miles out of them. they are about done now, but i think i might get the exact same ones to replace them.

I've seen the Muds and they have a great tread pattern.

Hope you enjoy the Mud Grapplers. I'm thinking the trail grapplers look like a sweet choice as well. I'm interested in the 37x12.5x17 trail grappler due to be released in December.

Thanks. I was looking at the new Trail Grappler before I ordered mine. Looks similar to KMs thread pattern and I'll bet it would be a good choice as well.

Interesting thing about the Trail Grappler, they have a different sidewall on either side of the tire; different shoulder lugs and different style lettering. I've never really cared for the Mud Grappler because of the cheesy claws and scales on the shoulder/sides. All I ever see them on around here are lifted street trucks.

ive installed nittos(dune and mud) on a few customers trucks...only complaint i've ever had about the mud grapplers is that they are pretty loud with the way the treadblocks slap the ground. off highway you wont be dissapointed.

My buddy had the mud grapplers on his f250 of the 37" variety. They wore well, rode well, easy to balance, but they were pretty loud. Let me know if you end up selling some of your inventory rather than trade it.

You'll hardly notice with mud over them. :D The other side doesn't have the scales though.

Woot, woot! That is what I have been waiting to hear!

Too bad I just bought some Coopers, next time.

I have never run the Mud Grapplers, but a couple of wheeling buddies have and they work well. I think they used an air raid siren for the noise design model. I'm married and my ticket collection is complete, so have no need to attract attention!;p:hillbilly:

I have the mud grapplers, 37's in the 17" wheel flavour, They seem to grab mud well for a pretty radial, but they are a little stiff in the sidewall and tread, better for a heavier vehicle, but the wear is good, similar to an open country MT i guess. Definately not the best tire for icy roads, not by a long shot...

I agree about not best for icy roads. That's where Trxus have an advantage. But being in Houston, that's not an issue.

Ahhhh, I didn't know they had different sidewall designs on each side. I guess all the posers here dig the looks of the scales, I can't recall seeing a set without them!
