The problem with old nicads is that dendrites (sharp crystal structures) grow through the nominally impermeable barrier. These 'short' the cell and lead to faster self discharge etc.

By 'blasting' them away you cure the initial 'short' but the barrier has already been damaged and the battery will 'never be quite the same'.

It's not a long term solution, but you may at least get a bit more life out of your old cells.

Nimh cells are better and don't apparently have this particular problem.

yeah what he said,,, it doesnt really work all that well as youve seen with your 50% success rate, add to that those two revived batts arent going to last much longer, you got some life back into them but dont get too excited about it.
